By now you've all probably read all about the 7th edition rule changes people claim to have seen with their own eyes. I noticed as a whole bretonnians get some of the more specific "nerfs" I was wondering if anybody else thinks that if that was their intention to specifically target us whether cutting questing knights strength by 1 and requiring LoS with most of the life magic was an effective way of toning us down? If this happens do you think brets will get compensated in any way? If so what do you think they will do?
from what ive heard aswell as getting some little nerfs, we seem to be also getting a huge bonus, as it is rumoured that rank bonus is now 5 wide, instead of 4 wide. That means that while everyone is spending more points get ranks or just not getting ranks, bretonnians will get the same amount of ranks, for the same amount of points.
Overall i wouldnt really worry about it though, since every army will be getting nerfed in some way, it should all balance out for the most part. and if it doesnt, thats what erratas and updates are for.
Meh I can live with most of it I just think the life magic changes break that function of our casters. Honestly, think about it, lance is great and all but the reason why damsel's belong in the center is because otherwise they would all but ruin that units offensive edge sacrificing 1 of 3 front slots to a caster. Where else do damsels and espically prophetess belong? The only and i mean ONLY peasent unit I can see them in is the grail relique. Sticking them by themself is just absolutely silly IMHO. My suggestion which would not be too game breaking would make their MR like doomseekers. A small aura of say 6". That way they still need to be close to the knights but also they you have to pay for that center spot that the damsel would normally be filling for "free" Its fair IMHO
On the other hand if this isnt addressed then I basically see one way to play out my army. Take a prophetess so I can use heavens, and bring a damsel with the sacrament. Its already a powerful route to go in the first place but now its either that or minimal scroll caddies.
Could someone point me to where these rumors are?
go to your GW store, by now they should have their floor copies. i read through the new rulebook and its even more advantageous for the brets. magic has been tonned down but who needs it anyway!!!
ALERT!!! this new rule make bretonnians unstoppable in warhammer!!!!!!
say a unit of knights hits an enemy flank, the knights break through, run down the enemy, and overrun into another unit...that combat gets fought that turn!!!! it counts as charging, and its the awsome-est rule that could ever happen to the brets.
some other things...as mentioned before, mounted models with great weapons only get +1 to their strength. battle standards and unit standards stack (thats more combat res for us, say a BSB with war banner and virtue of duty...can you say +3 combat res from one model!!) skirmishers can now be marched blocked (now we can catch the ****ers) ummm, theres probably some more but ill have to go look again.
coming out in september, i say re-paint your armies and hold out til then...
magic is completely balanced out!!! if you play another army and can take lore of metal. DO IT!!! who likes 2d6, on average wounding on 4's, no armour saves?
beasts is changed, they put bears anger as the 1st spell, that means our mounted damsels cant use it...
life is changed a bit too, master of stone is the 6th spell, and is only 1d6 st4 or 5! master of woods is also just 1d6. if i remember it, master of wood is the 1st one...
only the caster can use the dice they generate, the miscast table is really really nasty. the nicest one is your caster loosing a wound. they made magic easy to cast, the 2 highest are on shadow and heveans at a 12+, most others are a 7 or 8 tops.
everything else is pretty much the same...enjoy!

The army that has been advantaged the most by the changes is the Bretonnians, so I wouldn't be too concerned by the slight impact to the Questing Knights.
Brets will continue to be awesome and will probably need some toning down when their army book eventually comes out. It could be time for me to paint up some more knights and expand my small posse of Brets, I could be tough to beat in my gaming group in 7th edition.
Wood Elves 2/0/1
Orcs & Goblins 0/1/0
Next Army - Tomb Kings
Let me get this straight... They made Life Magic WORSE???
Currently i think life is a little too good. So i think it was a good idea to tone it down.Originally Posted by Rameusb5
I'm also pleased to hear the rumour that master of the wood is now a base spell, yay
All this line of sight for life though could really hurt the brets. But again i think it was a little good...
Well life is obviously only good if your gaming community uses a fair amount of terrain. We always random an amount of terrain and alt placing that much down. There will almost never be a game without at least one hill and/or forest. The trick then is to get them into said hill or forest. Bret's dont have a whole lot of draw though is the problem. Trebs on hills and casters in forests might be your best bet but even then your better off hoping you opponent would rather be in that forest your about to cause to explode in the first place.
wth, life overpowered. what the hell, its not man. Overpowere is hevans. Look i have read the
new rule book, all lores are very playable, breets have a great advantage rank being 3 wide is
huge. So great wepons are only plus 1 on mounts, so are everyones. Life gets balances, a
boost if you ask me from 6th edition rules. THe revision rules you coul say it was toned down.
But all lores are usable, all. Brets have to worry bout metal now though, grail knight just like
chaos knight now must worry about 2 d6 str 7 hits no armor saves, level 6 spell, metal. but
dont have to worry about hevens as much.
