GW really dropped the ball on these.
1) Have only one of their two possible weapon configurations
2) The fixed poses hurts their conversion potential.
3) Really overboard. The faces have grown on me. The frog drumsticks, no.
4) The command set. Who the heck wants a fat friar in each unit? And what if I want 16 men at arms instead of 12+command?
It's really a shame, putting an extra sprue in the commoner set would make them more appealing and offset the inclusion of command figures that're difficult to make into normal troops.
I have to agree... I hate the new men at arms. The bowmen aren't terrible, and I found the fat guy quite a novelty. In the first unit... But they're still not multi-pose, and I found them rather annoying to stick together.
That was the first thing that put me off buying M@A at all. I'd like to try them.. But I don't want the models.
Sure, they're better than last ed models, but still.. they don't compare to some from other armies.
They were a wonder to convert into Longcoat Veterans in my 40K IG army, but apart from that, conversions are night impossible with bodyparts. Frog drumsticks? Eff Tee Double You!
