I've never used the Battle Pilgrims and Grail Relique in my Bretonnian army, but their special rule Hatred has always had me a little confused.
I understand the workings of the Hatred special rule, but should it not specify in the Battle Pilgrims section towards whom the Battle Pilgrims have a Hatred towards?
As it stands i would assume that they would have a Hatred towards any enemy unit, but would like this cleared up as I have been considering adding one to my current army.
Hatred with no specification to which enemy = Hate everybody
consequently are these guys really any good?
sorry to highjack but as thw questions been answered and this is on the same line i thought it would be better than starting a new thread
"take my love, take my land, take me to where i cannot stand, i don't care i'm still free you can't take the sky from meee" ;- firefly
"i'm gonna grant you your greatest wish i'm gonna show you a world without sin" ;- serentiy
"I am a leaf on the wind, watch how i soar" ;- serenity
Thanks for the help on that, i was thinking that it might be that, but i just needed some clarification.
I've never seen or heard of anyone using them myself, so i wouldn't realy be able to say, but then again its all down to how you use them i think as to whether they are any good or not.
Then again,it's not how good the unit is, but how effectively the player deploys and uses the unit that counts. Even the weakest of units can turn the tide of a battle when used in the right way.
I actually think they are a top notch unit against the right armies. They work very well as a solid infantry unit for a damsel or a paladin on foot. (Try a paladin bsb on foot with a holy icon, i'm not 100% this is legal cost wise though) Stubborn isnt going to save the day all the time but they can definitely hold up. This of course assuming your using your cavalry and infantry in conjunction well. A good example of an army they should fair well against is the high elves vs their spearmen, or any unit where they'll get their full armor save and are likely to make the most out of the first round of combat with hatred. They should be able to eat through gobbos and skaven too. Remember the actually reliquary is like a double champion / chariotesque special unit. It may not be much but never underestimate a 5 wide block that acts like its 7 wide

I think they are an amazing unit. I have often played against this unit and its unually large aswel. I fought them often with O&G and if i tried to smash through them I could kill loads and he always had 6 attacks back coz of the bloming dead horse! and they never ran coz of stubborn. but if i send gobbos at them they would crunch their way through coz my ld is worse and he jus had to win once to send them scamering away. though if ignored they can be very annoying in the flank. This unit is almost as bad and the *shudder* lance formation.
