If you are starting out, this is the thread to read. I am hereby asking all seasoned Bretonnian players to come forth with their thoughts on starting a Bretonnian army.

The purpose of this topic is to preven a swarm of "hi, im new to Bretonnians. Got any starter tips?" and "What units should I get?" type posts, and gather all such stuff riiiight in here.

So, new aspireing Bretonnian generals, feel free to ask questions about starting a Bretonnian army in this topic, and all Bretonnian generals who knows their army well, feel free to share your ideas on starting such a force with the new kids.

All other posts that i feel should belong in this topic, will be deleted.

Well, I was thinking of starting Brettonians. (getting the codex next month)
So i wonder, witch is the "standard" army to get and build it up from there?
And, is the 100$ box a good start? + My friend has somethings he has never used..He has 8 Knight's of the Realm (ur whats their names) a box of archers (never even opened&#33 and a Duke mounted on a Griffon (Can he be mounted on a griffon? I mean, Is i legal in the rules? Cos' the new Duke sits on a horse )

You could have Hippogriffs in the last rules, so i believe you can have them in these aswell. Most races can have big monsters.

Name one that doesnt have big monsters for lords?

Hey! Don't ask me.
I'm only familiar with WH 40K (as a Daemonhunters and Eldar player).
So, a Hippogriff mounted Duke would be legal?

Skaven?

As for starting Brets...
Start off with designing a 500pt army, play around with them for a bit to be sure that you like them, then paint your army.
Rinse and repeat with 750pts, 1000pts etc. etc.

In small games units of 5 Knights with a character work well, especially if supported by ranged troops.

Well, I guess I have to wait until the 1:st of March to get and start configuring my armylist.
And what I have been thinking of making is an army with a MASSIVE ammount of Knights of the Realm and Grail Knights backed up by Peasant archers and all those led by a Duke (Maybe I will sneak in some pegasus to ).

So what do you think?

Is there anyone here who has played some games with the new Bretonnians and could make a tactica like in some of the different army sections. They are very useful.

In a 2000 point game what do you thing the best size for a lance is?
I was thinking something like 2 Units of 8 Knights of the realm with hero in each making 3x3, a unit of 5 Grail knights with a hero and a unit of 5 Questing knights.
Maybe a unit of 6 for flanking. I have never been a major fan of infantry but some skirmishing peasant archers might be ok

Name one that doesnt have big monsters for lords?
Kislev, bear is hardly big and it is a special character.

1 box of peasent bowman
1 box of knights of the realm
1 box of men at arms
1 brettonian lord
1 standard bearer

Can i put the standard bearer and the lord in with the knights? i dont have the codex yet

I would skip the men at arms and get some pegasus knights or more knights of the realm or maybe knight's errant.
