What opposing army does best against all-cavalry Bret armies? Specifically, what type of army do you "fear" most in a tournament (not armies made specifically to decimate your Brets, but a take-all-comers army that does particularly well against Brets)?
My vote would be for WE. They have a tendency toward fade-away tactics and fleeing from charges to set up favorable combats, and this gets Brets in trouble quickly.
Anyone with core fast-cavalry could also adopt similar tactics, including DE, Chaos, and DOW.
And you will occasionally just have a lance of knights bounce off a unit of dwarves, so they are nasty also.
An army of H2H Dwarves are nasty cause you'll just get bogged down in combat.
Another pain is detachment heavy empire, they used to ruin my day. This problem is solved by running MSU and making sure that you line up your charges well.
Dwarfs! I have a lot of troubles with them. They are able to move even 18" before i will start the game. They can make my unit charge at very strong dwrtf unit. They have a lot of stubborn units- since the second turn of combat my lances are busted (I have S3) and everybody know how look dwarfs brake test on Ld10 and re-roll.... Very good artillery with long range.
Maybye I`m not a good player, but a draw with them means my good game, a minor vistory is a success. I`ve newer had a massacre against dwarfs since new edition which made dwarfs an army without disadvantages.
Dwarves combine all the things that you should use against brets into one army
And Don't get me started on the NEW dwarves :realmad:
recently had a game against hight elves... one unit of spearmen held a unit of knights (only 6) for the whole game...
I hate their wizards, and their uber light cavalry... (with the standard that allows them to move arround at will) and free light armour...
after them its the WE... its hard to get a charge before you get into close range first, and take a hail of s4 shots... and i have a tendency to roll badly for saves.
I have not had the opportunity to play against anything else... so thats about it.
Fluff wise, I would say it would be either Orcs and Goblins or Undead.
Gamewise I'm going with either Undead army, getting bogged down in CC with every unit they have can be quite annoying...solution...Questing Knights!
Dwarfs or Chaos.
Dwarfs are hard to kill and if you a unlucky a slayer lord/hero can hold a unit of knights a game (hitting first, never breaking and slow kill your knights). But of main reason is the large amount of enhanced warmachines!
I just don't like chaos! You never know what monster's and unit's you are facing? (stupid GW giving them two books! I would like a extra set magic items and some more unit choice from too plz)
How about we make this into a poll? Results would be numerically apparent then..
Also, I think I'll hate dwarfs the most too, their leadership and toughness look scary. Add to his the chaos-level heroes with runes and a devastating shooting phase and you truly have an anti-bret army!
