I'm trying to create a well rounded list vs all; however, I not feeling Slaanesh at the moment, even though I have many Slaanesh models.
Ill give a brief strategy I plan to use below the list.
1750 - Tri God
HQ - 270
BloodThister - Unholy Might
Elites - 410
3 Flamers of Tzeentch
3 Flamers of Tzeentch
Troops - 595
5 Pink Horrors - Bolt, Changling
Fast - 0
Heavy - 475
SoulGrinder - Phlegm
SoulGrinder - Phlegm
Daemon Prince - Mark of Nurgle, Nox Touch, Cloud of Flies, Iron Hide
The bloodthirster probably isnt the best HQ for 1750 games because of his cost, but I like the model and I like his abilities; so I developed a play style just for him. I don't run him as a offensive Unit, but maybe more of a support unit. I typically try to keep him out of LOS or have him move along side high priority targets. I try to keep him within 18" charge range of all my Units, so if a unit gets assaulted by something they shouldn't he flys over, or if a vehicle gets into range he flys over and chews it up. Used in this way he is much more survivable for me, and he always makes back his point cost.
Flamers - probably don't need much introduction, and no way you can deny their killing abilities. They can easily and probably will wipe out an entire squad if your opponent doesn't know about them. I tend to use one squad aggressive and other squad mildly aggressive; For example first squad i try to deepstrike right in their face within flame range w/ alittle room for a bad scatter. The other squad I kind of hang back.. so my opponent will kind of focus on them, and ignore something else.
BloodCrushers - I normally run 3 of these and they tend to have a solid performance on the table. In some way I believe these guys are the best all around unit in the army, and large squads of these are guys are scary. They will chew almost anything up h2h; I will try to run these guys mildly aggressive. In hopes they will get alot of fire, and if not they will be close enough and breakup some squads.
Bloodletters - These guys are going to be primarily screened by the Plaguebearers and Soul Grinders; Just march them up and once in range assault or use them to counter assault troops assaulting my SG or Bearers. They could even be screen by the crushers.. but my primary focus with these dudes will be attempting to keep them with a 4up save, until they get into range of slaughtering,
Plaguebearers - They will be my Icon Holding, Objective holding, Bloodletter Screening, tarpitting, cover giving unit. That about sums them up.
Pink Horrors- They are probably just an distraction unit, to shoot some light fire, and alittle anti horde troop, and maybe lucky anti vehicle. They will be 100% support, no wear near the enemy; max shooting range.
Soul Grinders; They are going to be sorta upfront screening most of my troops.. well at least try. I will keep them close to most of my MCs. They will toss Large blast temples all over the place.. and try to assault small units.
DP of Nurgle; This guy puts the P in brutal in H2H.. He is like old school rending on 3s. Hi WS makes him hit most on 3s, and he will wound on 2s with nox touch, AND he is MC so no armor saves. Plus offensive and defensive grenades.. Dont want to tangle with him. He can take out an entire squad easy.
Well thats pretty much it.. What you guys think..
HQ- I am not a big fan of the bloodthirster, plus the might is expensive. If you like close combat HQs, take a pair of khorne or slannesh heralds instead. But if you really like him,, then use him. I just think he is overcosted for his point cost.
Elites- Flamers are more effective with icons. For your list, you should have 2-3 icons.
Troops- After testing, the 5 man horror squad is pretty ineffective, if you want a cheap tank hunter, take 4 screamers instead. If you need anti-infantry, beef up on the horrors. Personally, I recommend dropping the horrors, splitting up your plaguebearers into 2 units of 7 with icons.
Fast- You seem to lack anti-tank. Add 4 screamers.
Heavy- Looks good, I would recommend adding a shooting power to the daemon prince. Personally I like the gaze.
Overall, besides the MCs, you lack anti-tank. Seems pretty good otherwise. (I am mostly nitpicking).
The more things change, the more they stay the same...
Thanks for your reply RDNK;
I agree with almost all of your points, but not a fan of the screamers. They have a single purpose, maybe they can do some last minute objective Challenges.. I will play test a few games to see if they warrant me spending money on a few boxes.
I 100% agree with the horrors; quite frankly I hate them, and when I first gotten into daemons before becoming quite experienced with them I thought they were great, so I own like 20 models of them. It sounds scary Im going to shoot 60 S4 shots at some MEQs, but what it results to is maybe 4~5 marines killed. That is no way worth their point cost of 340 points, and once attacked they get chewed up pretty fast.
I normally run the DP with Gaze, but I opted to bring a small squad of horrors to compensate for the loss of firepower. The only real reason why I'm bringing the Horrors is because I was lacking on troops.
Anti Tank is a problem w/ this list, and Im relying on MCs and perhaps the SGs. With this current list I eat up anything 12 armor or less.. I do see a problem getting upwards of 13+; hopefully I will have the thirster in range to do some damage.
Im not a real fan of screamers..
I do like your idea of 2 squads of 7 bears with icons.. I will try this out in my next game.
