Hello all, I didnt really mean to combine all four races, I just sort of got the best out of each race and tried to piece them all together, but I think its a fairly balanced yet effective list, feel free to tear it to pieces, that would be rather lovely, thanks x
The Blue Scribes - 130
these guys are just awesome for their point cost, they have great things to offer and are basically there to hang back and provide pretty awesome fire support while still being jump so thats great as they can get right into the action if needed avec breath of chaos!!! if thats not great value then Im not sure what is
Herald of Khorne on a chariot - 85
Pretty good value again for money and bearing in mind his cost and what not, he wont really be a massive loss if killed, so that makes him worth while, while still having the ability to kick the fluff out of alot of stuff!
5 Fiends of Slaanesh- 150
These things are so effective at killing because you have lots of attacks for rending while still having a high strength for wounding, and they dont have a shabby initiative, toughness, wound count or save, along with cavalry, makes them a must buy
2 x 10 Bloodletters - 320
Probably the best troops for daemons, I used daemonettes before but the rending is too unpredictable and their low strength wasnt good enough for wounds, also T. but these guys have great str, abillites and lovely swords which make them prime targets but also killing machines
Soulgrinder with phlegm - 160
Main use is for fire support and disrupting enemy lines, laying to waste, while advancing on though, and with high armour value it makes it last longer, a scary weapon in a devlish arsenal
Daemon Prince of Nurgle with Cloud of flies, noxious touch and Iron Hide - 155
very scary to notice, very difficult to kill, cant be much of a firemagnet with so many other things on the board aswell, capable to kill many and nearly anything, so he fits right in really and can really cause havoc if reached enemy lines
Total - 1000
My plan is to summon the scribes, soulgrinder and the fiends at a distance first, im thinking behind/near cover for the soulgrinder and fiends, because I want the soulgrinder to wear them down, and due to the fiends immense charge and speed, I can deploy at a distance and keep them alive a bit longer. the scribes will hopefully be anti tank, with optimistically 2 potshots of bolt of tzeentch, so that should be good for the beginning, if not, demonic gaze all the way, it will be a very good supporting role in the army with its jump ability also, makin it highly mobile
then second set will be the others, and hopefully fiends will be in combat, I might debate putting the DP in the first batch then alll of the khorne stuff comes second turn hopefully to clean up swiftly
so what dya think? please criticise if ya can
I'm just throwing this out there coz I am just staring out with Daemons but... Don't you need more troops? In 5th ed 66% of missions require scoring units to help you win the game and you have a grand total of two, so once they're gone thay are gone. I played a Khorne-Tzeentch army yesterday and wiped out my opponents squad of ten Bloodletters in the first turn, after charging them with Khorne Berzerkers. Daemons have the enviable ability to Deep Strike EVERYTHING so you could Deep Strike units directly onto objectives. SO, I was thinking maybe you should try and get two small units of Plaguebearers to sit on objectives after your second (?) wave. Maybe drop the SOul Grinder to payu for it. You could even take squads of seven. Haha. Other than that your list looks pretty good to me, I know I'd be scared to face it!
Plaguebearers are much better than Bloodletters imo. Plaguebearers with icons are great for bringing in the rest of your force safely and can hold objectives extremely well.
I'd also go for 2 Grinders or 2 DPs, you'll get more survivability out of both that way.
Otherwise it looks fine, a little light on Troops but if you run Plaguebearers it shouldn't be a problem.
ahh rite so what you guys are suggesting is for the troops to go down first and try to cause some damage and then summon the rest, that sounds pretty good, i mean i was thinking tht because my troops will be needed so much that I keep them in reserve and capture after I have worn the enemies down a bit more, I might do 3 squads of plaguebearers but im just worried that they will just get killedeasily, and i got 1 of each soulgrinder and dp as they both have their strenghts, the dp is more CC than the soulgrinder, while the soulgrinder makes lovely ranged fire, i struggled to convince myself for a soulgrinder really because they can be taken out by 1 las, which worried me, but should I risk 2? i took 2 daemon princes in a previous list and found that they were targeted too heavily and i lost them within a round due to mass firing upon em.
i think i might change the bloodletters into plaguebearers purly for capturing objectives, then the others for destroying the armies becuase I think fiends, soulgrinder, dp, blue scribes and herald on a chariot will do just fineagainst them, what dya think?
I think that if I capture my objectives and the rest of my army can try and wipe out the other, then that would be lovely and I am also pondering the use of a blue scribe because If I use him then he is within 24" of everyone, so he can be easily picked off, hes not particularly hard to kill, so maybe have another squad of plague bearers instead to capture things? or maybe invest in something that will kill more! because I think 2 objectives is nice and then freeing up another with the rest of my army would leave the opponent with 1 objective while I have 2-3, that should suffice really but what do you guys think?
When you have expensive models like Grinders and DPs, it's best to get some redundancy in case they get targeted and you have a stretch of bad luck.
Blue Scribes could be dropped for another Khorne Herald in a chariot, using the leftover points to get those 2 units of PBs. 2 Should be all you need for now, that's 2 objectives held for not too many points and with T5, 5+ invul and FNP they shouldn't be dying any time soon.
ahh rite so drop the scribe for another herald on a chariot, but what should i have 2 of? 2 soulgrinders or 2 DPs? im swaying towards soulgrinders as they have the range as such however DPs are much more difficult to kill in CC and are better killers, what dya think? so far the list is
2 x Herald of Khorne on a chariot - 170
2 x 10 plaguebearers - 300
5 fiends of slaanesh - 150
total - 620
Grinders have range and are fairly killy in combat, but they can go down to 1 lucky shot while DPs end up more specialized and HtH oriented. A Khorne Herald in a chariot has nearly identical stats to a DP with Iron Hide, so make of that what you will.
I'd go for dual Grinders, give the PBs icons, Heralds Unholy Might, and any leftover points can go to more Fiends or PBs.
ok so we then have this
Herald of Khorne w Chariot - 85
Herald of Khorne w Chariot - 85
6 Fiends of Slaanesh-180
10 x Plaguebearers -150
9 x Plaguebearers -150
Soulgrinder with Phlegm - 160
Soulgrinder with Phlegm - 160
Total - 995
I couldnt afford unholy might as i would be 10 pooints over and I had 20 points left over, so instead of having another plaguebearer, I thought I might aswell bolster up my fiends, so they can cause more havoc
how should I divide my squads up? I think both soulgrinders up first with only 1 squad of plaguebearer, and the fiends. only 1 squad so then both wont be eradicated first turn. the fiends would be able to make a bigger impact this way aswell, then the second wave would hopefully be 2 heralds and plaguebearers hopefully, what dya think?
I would drop 1 unit of PBs in each wave, but beyond that I'd do Heralds and Fiends in the reserve wave with both Grinders in the first drop. They can take and dish out a ton of fire, while the PBs sit tight on an objective. Otherwise, drop the Heralds and Fiends up close to prepare for a bloody slaughter.
