Getting back to it... the new 1000 point armeh!

Howdy guys, Im just getting back into 40k, took a hiatus for a whole edition and am starting my chaos space marines just in time for 5th it looks like. I am going for a sort of Tzeentch Feeling army, but that can be easily given up for competetive play, (The color scheme will be tzeentchy enough!)

Heres my 1000 pt army so far...

    HQ
    Chaos Sorcerer 180pts
Terminator armor, Mark of Tzeentch, Doom Bolt, Warptime.

    Troops
    10 Chaos space marines 205pts
Aspiring Champ. with twin linked bolter/meltabombs
Plasma gun X 2, rest of marines with Bolters.

    10 Chaos space marines 255pts
Aspiring Champ with plasma pistol, power sword, meltabombs
Meltagun, Flamer, Icon of Tzeentch, rest of CSM have bolt pistol/ CC wep.

    Heavy Support
    5 Havocs 185pts
Aspiring Champ. Autocannon, Lascannon, Missle LauncherX2

    Elites 175pts
    5 Possessed
    Possessed Champion
    Rhino

It comes out to exactly 1000 pts. Like I said, I want to be able to play competetively and there are a few choices I am having doubts with, such as the expensive sorcerer. I was thinking about switching over to a DP with just warptime.

I was also thinking about switching the rhino for the possessed over to the 10 man CC squad of CSM to get em stuck in. I was also thinking that the Icon of Tzeentch is pretty expensive, but it would be worth it against the CC opponents the squad could possible face.

Another choice im not sure about are the havocs. I think they would be good anti armor/infantry unit with their 2Xfrag missles they can toss out at squads and the lascannon/krak missles they can dish out against armor.

Thanks a lot for your help!

    Drop the possessed, they're horrible.

Give your champs power fists, take the meltabombs away from them.
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
Necrons : W-8 D-3 L-7 (Sleeping in their TombFoam, waiting for a new codex)
    Chaos Forces (CSM/CD): W-42 D-19 L-28
    Apocalypse Games : W-4 D-0 L-1 (4 Titans, Brass Scorp, 3 Baneblades, 2 Bombers, 3 Fighters, and a Partrage in a Pear Tree)

    My thoughts:

Lose the possessed in the Rhino
    Lose the Plasma Pistol
You don't need the aspiring champ for the havocs
Add 3 guys to your havocs so its like each special weapon guy has 2 wounds
Havocs could use IoCG if you're worried about leadership rolls
Add Powerfists if you can find the points.
A DP with just wings and warptime does save points
Losing the IoT saves a lot of points
On the second ten man use either 2 meltaguns, or 2 flamers
Any saved over points go for either Lesser Daemon or Outflank Chosen in a Rhino
Also, CSMs all get bolters, bolt pistols, and CC weapons
You don't have choose one or the other
Rough math late at night thinks you have around225 pts if you trim the Tzeentch fat
You could just use 1K Sons instead of the CSM with the IoT, you get AP 3 bolters

Hes very expensive, I dont see him being worth it really. Id say a Daemon prince would be a much better choice. warp time will give him the edge in cc.

Many people will agree with me, that these just arent worth the cost, they are not reliable enough.

1st squad needs to loose its champions weapons, he needs a powerfist and thats all.
same with the 2nd squad. Also note that the normal CSM now comes with a bolter, bolt pistol and CCW, you no longer need to state which you would like to take. Id suggest taking two special weapons of the same sort, it creates a greater focus and efficiency upon one sort of enemy. With a meltagun and flamer, you will waste ones shots per turn hunting the others prime target.

Drop the champion, take one sort of weapon. Missile launchers would be the most benefical all round at the point level. Adding extra bodies in here will help keep them alive longer.

Not all the time. In CC the 5+ inv save you will be given is not a great save what so ever, it will only save one in three models. You could drop them and give them IoCG and just paint them like tzeentchy guys. The possesed points should be used to enact the changes I suggested and the remainder could be spent on a small termie squad with combi weapons or an obliterator. I think you need an additional anti tank unit of some form.

As Ive said above, using one type of weapon will mean you can focus on what the whole squad is good at. All missile launchers will be a good unit to focus against Vehicles and MCs before going at infantry units.

First of all, thanks a lot for the criticism guys!

Heres what Ive come up with after all of the suggestions...

    HQ
    Daemon Prince 155pts
    Wings,Warptime.

    Troops

    10XChaos Space Marines 220pts
    Asp. Champ. with powerfist.
    Plasmagun X 2

    10XChaos Space Marines 185pts
    Asp. Champ. with Powerfist
    Flamer X 2
    Icon of Chaos Glory

    Heavy Support
    8XHavoc Space Marines 200pts
    Missle Launcher X 4

That all adds up to 760 points which gives me 240 to play with and here are some of the options that I have come up with...

I could go for 3 Oblits easy, with points to spare.

But I could also add in 2 Predators with twinlinked lascannons each and have 30 points left to spread around there somewhere. I could give both Preds Havoc Launchers as well...

What do you guys think? The extra armor could provide some distractions from the DP and the CSM squads while they actually do damage to enemy armor or MCs.

Once again, thanks for the replies!

It looks pretty good. Couple of things though..
    1. Give the CSM rhinos, the mobility is wonderful, they block LOS and are cheap
    2. Drop the Havocs, if you have 2 preds use them with Lascannon sponsons, dont use the TW las, its a waste.
    3. the first CSM squad needs a IoCG
    4. DPs fine but if you have the points, give him MoS, and instead of warptime use lash of submission, you can move enemy units right into the open and destroy or cripple them.

Just some suggestions, hope they help

Add rhinos, a single oblit and some terminators with combi weapons in there. They should add some spice to the force. Or, you could have some 1Ksons if you feel like splashing out, theywont be the most effective choice but will be fluffy.
