1500pts of CSM with some Nurgle and Slaanesh for flavour, designed for friendly play rather than tournaments. I haven’t played any 5th edition games so would be grateful for any comments about how the army might fare in the new environment.

HQ - 140pts

15 more points and you get the most competative HQ in the codex, seems a shame not to mention DP+Wings+MoS+Lash of Slaanesh

good for deepstriking and taking out those pesky tanks and walkers, however I would also try and squeeze in a powerfist

these are the bane of my existance, i love the fluff the model and even the crazed special rule (in theory) but what tends to happen is one dread blood rage, the other gets fire frenzy and shoots the blood raged dread in the back and immobolizing it and vice verse, also, they are a huge target on the field, dont know why, they always seem to take heavy fire, my advice is stay away from dread for now

sweet, nothing better than these guys, perhaps, again points allowing it, swapping for plasmas?

8 Noise Marines + 8 Sonic Blasters + Aspiring Champion + Power weapon

I would of thought you want to shoot stuff up with these guys, so I dont see any reason for a champ or a power weapon, blastmasters are always fun, and if you dont like the idea of a blastmaster, rhino, 35points for cover isnt bad even if you dont use it for the transport capability

10 Chaos Space Marines + Icon of Chaos Glory + 2 Meltaguns + Aspiring Champion + Powerfist + Rhino

pretty much the staple CSM, cant say a bad word against this unit, except i still think its too expensive and rarely earns its points back

good unit, be aware though, its going to be a bullet magnet

best unit we have, good at dishing it out, good a taking it,not half bad in CC either, dont get rid of these bad boys

Remember if you are forced to fire a ML into another dread due to fire frenzy you can always choose to fire frag instead of krak.

and you can still get through the rear armour with a frag, because the same happpened to me on more than one occasion with boltgun (though 2x twinlinked boltguns within rapid fire range with fire frenzy was bound to hurt)

but i think experiminatation is the best solution, play a game with proxie dreads, if it doesnt work out, hey presto, your in the same boat as me
