Ok, so I have read the forums, got ideas, and havn't seen this list. There are a couple similar but I only read through the ones labled zillas or monstrous creature.
4x Herald of Khorne on chariot all same.
Unholy Might, Icon.
5x Bloodlettersw/ instrument
5x Bloodlettersw/ instrument
3x Daemon Prince all same.
Iron Hide, Mark of Nurgle, Unholy Might, Cloud of Flies, Instrument.
Originally I started this list for fun, as the forums always speak of a daemonzilla list in different forms. Then I started thinking how this seems pretty viable against my usual opponent who plays Mek CSM. His usual army two rhinos(one with 10 thousand sons, one with 10 normal csm), a landraider with 10 csm inside, 5 deepstriking termies, his own daemon prince, and a vindicator.
My plan is to deep strike everything as close to him as possible. First wave prefered drop: 2 chariots, 2 dps, 1 bc squad, 1 Bloodletters.
Then the rest come in. Using chariots icons to get in close. Is this a good DA setup?
The Nurgle mark was because the thousand sons have that ap3 bolter shot which means only invulneable saves after wounding a toughness 5. Making the DP toughness 6 almost ensures survivability to charge into combat. This leaves his first turn of combat to two additional shot volleys from regular csm squads who will have to disembark from their rhinos(allowing them to be assaulted the next turn). The CSM DP will cause a threat, but he only has a toughness of 5 giving a nurgle dp with Unholy Might and flies an advantage. Besides, he will most likely try a pavane and assault me the first turn flies removing one attack. Hopefully I will be in assault range with all units the next turn and then promptly remove all of his units from the table except those damned thousand sons who are terrible in hand to hand combat except that they are a tarpit, having a 4+ invulnerable save and are fearless, plus their seargent has a crazy sword that instant kills things.
What do you guys think, could this work?
I can't comment much, as I am not a huge daemons player (I own a daemons army, but barely use them), but you seem low on troops. I would consider dropping some other units to get more troops (For holding objectives).
And as for the Thousand Sons, the squad leader has a force weapon, which does inflict insta death (If he passes a psychic test). However, you are playing daemons, and if i recall correctly, all daemons are IMMUNE to insta-death.
Rork: In the dark future of the 41st millennium there is only friendship.
Fenrir: and magic.
Kaiser-: My Little Chaos Marine, Friendship is Heresy?
Very low on Troops, suicidally so.
Icons are too expensive, grab blessing instead.
You need a lot more Troops. If you want Khorne, 3 units of 10. I'd recommend 3 units of 10 Plaguebearers and maybe some Horrors for shooting.
It's also cripplingly slow. Mech armies will run circles around you and there's nothing you can do about it. Fiends, Bloodthirster, Keeper, winged DPs, Soul Grinders, and the like will make you much better at getting into assault and not getting screwed by mech.
