Well I currently got back into 40k after a 6 year break. The new rules blew me away ridding me of my bloodletters and AoK. These are the new lists i am working on. I want to be well balanced but the heavy support is an issue. Please lend any tips and suggestions.
1500 pt list
1 Lord- Mok, Termy Armor, Bloodfeeder (played 3 games with it never rolled a 1..willing to take risk)
4 termy ret- 3x PF, 1x CF, 1x heavy flamer, 3 Combi-plasma, 1 Icon of khorne
3x 8 man squads Zerkers- 1x Skull Champ (PF, plasma pistol), 1x Plasma Pistol in squad, ONLY 1 Icon for Termy drop
1 defiler- Extra Close Combat arm, Extra armor
1 dread- Plasma cannon
comes to 1489 i believe. I want to field a vindicator instead of dread and drop PPs in zerker squads let me know what you think.
For my 2k list I added;
1x Land raider for termies
Kharne the Betrayer
Dread or Defiler
in your 1500 game, how are you transporting your lord + termies? deep striking on the icon? If so your melee orientated lord + retinue have to wait a few turns before arriving, being unable to assault first turn you'll be prime shooting target when you do come down - the cost of your lord and terms make it a rather large waste.
Plasma pistols, lose them, lose them all.
Extra armor, lose it too. 1 in 6 chance of being effective, no tah.
Plasma cannon, was my initial choice when I rolled out my 'nought, huggeellyy dangerous tho. Missile Launcher + cc arm is the most reliable and common choice. Due to the crazy effect u can just frag the side of another armor.
Hopefully by dropping all of that you might be able to afford a land raider, however I'm too lazy to do the math for you :p

As for the retinue, seems like a very potent close combat squad, with decent tank busting, and a special surprise for horde armies. Only problem is that they're a juicy, high priority target, worth lots of points. Deep striking them is definitely not a good plan unless you head for cover first, unless you DS on the icon, at which point they'll have 'Zerker support/cover. Adding the Land Raider in 2k points is still a wise move. Other than that, if they make it to combat, they'll have your opponent crying.
Your list is a tad light on anti-vehicle, so consider dropping the Dread's built in close combat arm, and switching it to a missile launcher. The change is free, and if you either keep it isolated, or run it with a vehicle, you can just choose to fire frags if it gets crazed (Since you still get to choose what you shoot, just not where). Gives you a nice S8 shot to deal with anything but the toughest armour.
Two Defilers and a Land Rairder (If you do mean adding in another Defiler) would just be plain evil (In that great Chaos way) and would definitely give your opponent something to think about. Otherwise, Land Raider/Defiler/Vindicator is also nasty and provides a lot of tough decisions for your opponent's anti-armour.

Wow ty for the suggestions i will take all this into comsideration. Droppin the plasma pistols and extra armor added the points i needed and the tip on the heavy support helped also.
I think im going to stick with vindicator and defiler to keep it balanced i played a 1500 pt game against IG yesterday and the tanks did nothing once i was in assault by 3rd turn. If Someone decides to target the vindicator that leaves my 3 rhinos open for for an extra turn. Str 10 will demo and major tanks and raider will add to it and the defiler will scare any open troops. Ty again and please post more hints if possible.
o and the idea of deepstriking helped also. 3rd turn is when they get to do anything so im stickin with constant raider transport in both lists
As it is, if you've got a Land Raider, you might as well find a way to use it with your Termies and Lord. High AV vehicle that's going to get your Termies to the front line no matter what, and add to the general chaos that all those scary vehicles in your list are going to cause. The more choices you force your opponent to make, the more likely it is he's going to make the wrong one.
