    600 Point Tournament Coming Up

A local game store is having an interesting tournament coming up: 600 points, 1 HQ and 1 TROOP mandatory, no special characters, and the maximum number of units you can take are 1 HQ, 3 TROOPS, 1 FAST, 1 ELITE, and 1 HEAVY. Every match is pitched battle and annihilation, on a 4x4 map. Max time for each game is 1 hour.

I love the concept, as I'm not used to playing competitively at such a low level. I've come up with 3 lists, and I'm not sure which is best:

    LIST A

    Daemon Prince w/wings, MoK

6 Plague Marines w/2 melta, rhino

4 Terminators w/combi-plasmas (deep striking in)

    Vindicator

    LIST B

Daemon Prince w/wings, MoK (held back for counter-assault)

    6 Plague Marines w/2 plasma

    5 Noise Marines w/3 SB, 1 blastmaster

5 Havok Marines w/3 missile launchers

    LIST C

    Chaos Lord w/MoK, Powerfist (w/berserkers)

    5 Berserkers w/SC, PW, rhino

5 Plague Marines w/2 plasma, rhino

    Vindicator

How do they look? Do any of them look significantly better than the others?

Two of your lists aren't valid as stated. MoK doesn't allow for psychic powers so you cant have MoK and Warptime. Otherwise I like list A the best. Mobile, extremely durable and powerful. The only downfall would be the lack of scoring troops, however that really isn't an issue in types of missions played.

one thing, anything with the mark of khorne can't take a psychic power so your hq isn't going to get far. and vindicators are kinda hit and miss, i would go for something a little more consistant. maybe a predator or two. also a chaos lord is initiative 5, so striking last with a 100+ point model is kinda dangerous.

i personally would go for something like this:
    Lord MOK, Lightning Claws 130

that leaves you with 450-460 to play with,
here's a fun idea, take your lightning claw lord and stick him with a 9man berzerker squad, give the squad a champ with a powerFist that costs 250 add a land raider for 220

    so lord 130
    Zerkers 250
    landraider 220
    600!
definatly suffers from the all your eggs in one basket law. but at 600 pts your basket is pretty small anyways.
Take my words with a grain of salt, i am not the tactical genius i think i am!

    Oops!

Thanks for the heads up! I forgot about that. I dropped warptime in favor of an extra plague marine in each list.

I'm trying to avoid the 'all eggs in one basket' list, although I'm certain I'll probably face at least one at the tournament.

I'm fairly new to Chaos (I'm a reformed Marine player ^_^) and I'm not sure how each of these lists will work, because I've never played Chaos in anything less than 1500 point games. I guess I'll have to experiment and see.

    Thanks for the help!

I quite like list A with the termies and the daemon prince, should withstand a lot of fire power, if there will be any.

i also would select list a, for the reasons stated above
There is no Emperor, false or otherwise.
