Intro: I have just come back from a long absence and a lot of crazy things happening in my life. I'm not really used to 5th edition rules yet (I was just getting used to 4th edition when I got very sick and was pretty much out of the "life" game for about 6months and I'm just now getting back into warhammer). So I need some serious help to get my army list into something worthwhile.
I'm strongly thinking about buying the renegade strike force. I want to see what kind of army can be built from that box mainly, and to see what else is required to build an effective army so I don't waste any money that I don't have to.
Theme: Nurgle-based footsloggers, based around the purge renegade force. Doesn't mean I'm restricting the possibilities to only nurgle icons/marks/etc, but I would like to use a decent amount of those.
Basic Strategy : Raptors for fast attack , especially on the flanks, and for taking out key units quickly(they get a huge amount of attacks on charge and are very fast). Raptors will be accompanied by the chaos lord for even more attacks and heavy hitting as well as the increased LD. Troop #1 will march up the center using cover , flanked by the plague marines, heavy support attempts to take out heavily armored units/monstrous creatures/etc.

(Does the lord get the mark of khorne bonus from the icon of khorne from the raptors?)
Mark of Nurgle +20
Daemon Weapon +40
Death Guard Squad (6 marines, 1 champ) = 226
Maybe keep this squad to a minimum and get more raptors?
Death Guard Squad (6 Marines, 1 champ) = 256
Chaos Raptors (lord retinue) (7 raptors ) = 190
Icon of Khorne
Defiler = 150
Replace all with CCW's (maybe keep flamer?)
Total Points: 992
Suggestions for those last 8 points? Meltabombs for one of the death guard marines ?
1) Terminators for 1000-1500pt armies ? They are definitely expensive but they can be made to be very hard to kill and very effective at dealing out punishment. Would make the land raider more attractive as a transport in a 2000+ army list if I ever get there.
2)Rhinos or no rhinos? If I remove the rhinos it gives anti-tank one thing to shoot at (defiler) but it also means that if they do manage to take down the defiler they only have a lot of infantry to shoot at.
3) Do I have enough anti-tank with the raptor's meltaguns and the defiler's ordnance battlecannon ?
1500 is still in progress, any advice would be great.

Updated, still trying to figure out the choices for 1500, probably adding more raptors, the terminators, and vindicator if i have the points. Maybe a squad of havocs if I have the $$.
Any general advice on the best strategy for these units or better upgrade selections would be helpful. As well on advice on when to use terminators (I know about the karmoon special so I don't necessarily need upgrade suggestions for them). I just worry that in smaller point battles they put a lot of points into a very small amount of models and that they become a prime target.
