Obvious Aside, I need more rhinos. This is real Nurgle army list without any DP's from Slaanesh. It's themed just to be deathguard. I like the Chaos demons they are only a few points more expensive and way better.(If I have broken any allies rules let me know) And I realize the risk inherent in the Dread with Plasma Cannon, hopefully he gets closer to the enemy before he goes crazy Fire away with comments/criticisms.
First i would get the current codex as you mention things which do not exist in the current editon. once you get it, read it, and re-evaluate your list.
id drop the lord and get a DP with MoN and wings, you wont have a HQ that is easily killed and you will be able to take out squads, IC and tanks.
do NOT mix special weps on your squads, pick 2 of the same so they have a roll. 2x meltas for IC and tank killing or 2x plasmas for troop killing with the ability to kill elite units, IC and tanks.
drop ALL upgrades from your transports, less junk = more points for more rhinos.
defilers are fine with auto cannon & missile launcher or with 2x CCW
avoid demons, unless you are using large amounts, they die easily and are a waste of points
May the "Nurgley Goodness" protect you!
I agree with Deathklaat on this one. I would run with a MoN DP with Warptime for HQ. If you really want to play the Lord, think about putting him in some termie armor and running him with the terminator squad.
I'm not really a big fan of the Chaos Dreadnaught, they never seem to do what I want when I need them to, so I would suggest dropping him.
I've found that in the Plague marine squads, running with 2x Meltas or a Melta/Flamer combination works rather well.
Also, I believe that you can only take up to 4 Heavy Weapons in a Havoc Squad. I would suggest going with 2 ML, LC & AC or perhaps dropping them altogether for a couple of Obliterators or Predators. Hope this helps some, good luck!
Hey thanks for all the input. All the stuff is done up to the most current codex I think that I just use old terminology. ( combi-bolter for twin-linked, plague marine havocs are just havocs with the icon of nurgle) I think I will take some of the advice and un-mix my special weapons. The havoc squad as is, is legal. The chaos demons were chosen because instead of being summoned, they deep strike. The nurglings to tie up a more elite unit. ( it was fun watching Maugan-Ra and his entourage try to melee their way out of 7 bases of nurglings). The plague bearers will deep strike when they became available, grabbing a weaker unit or intercepting a moving infantry unit. They could also attack a monstrous creature due to the poison. I guess most of my experience comes from battles with the eldar, but my experience is that wraithlords are fairly easily taken down by poison, either from the plaguebearers or from the lord with the plaguebringer (at a minimum that is 5 poison power weapon attacks). I am planning a Demon Prince. The way I look at the list the lord seems that he is better for dealing with infantry, the possibility of 10 power wep attacks, combined with whatever is left of his squad, should deal with any other inf unit. Also, the dread is a Forgeworld model so he's staying.
Yes, your Havocs are legal as is. I simply mis-read your message.
