I'm trying to get back into 40k. I have a start on a 1k pt list and would like some advice on it and what i should add to it (only thing is I'm trying to stay away from the soul grinder).
-Chariot of Khorne
Now I have about 400 pts left (use your dex for exact pt amount).
I know troops are very important in 5th edition so i was thinking about running some more daemonettes or bloodletters. I would like to keep rending attacks or power weapon attacks since the main armies i will be playing is necrons and space marines. What do yall think?
-Chariot of Khorne
however to be more competitive i think a herlad of khorne on a steed of whatever is it, the one that strips IC status and gives him the best stats, plus a few khorne upgrades like deamonic strenght, deamonic hide and the sword that letes you throw i think.
3 of these guys with skull take would make this list ugly and fun to face and use ^^.
( you only need 12 of these peeps maxbut i would stick with 10 of them standard )
add in two squads or 1 of the pink horrors about a squad of 10 will do for max and add in the changling for extra spice. these guys will sit back and hold or contest objectives.
( this unit will overkill, do i would stick with a unit of 12 max, and have about 2 units of these minimum ) three if you only have two DP.
I would then advise you to get deamon princes with mark of nurgle and wings with deamonic hide if possible and have them go around and chew up infantry. if they attack tanks then go one DP for one tank, if you want to stay in combat and kill guys without getting gunned down next turn, but you don't want them tied up for too long. then i would send in two or one DPs into combat.
If you want to uttally annihilate a squad then i would suggest a combo of 2DP and two khorne heralds on there chariots )
Make sure you deploy blood latters and squads alike in cover or palce the majority of them behind something like DPs to get a cover save.
hope it helps. don't expect people to make lists for you, because in the end it isn't you who is happy with the list and you just take something out of the hobby. making lists is fun and it is a major part of the hobby.
i would suggest making a full list of whatever points your aiming for, then post the list and ask for comments and critism and paly test your list. because the best advice is your own thoughts when you play test your armies.
hope i ain't being too harsh either.
If you want to feel invincible against unexperienced players who don't know the chaos daemons codex very well. then i would get two units of blood crushers or pink horrors as small as possible and get fate weaver and get lots of blood crushers.
It will be literally invincible aginanst inexperienced players who don't target fateweaver first. this tactic is known as the fatebubble or something simliar, because fateweaver allows units near him ( can't remember how far ) to re-roll any failed saves ^^... but he does have a big set back because of that...
DP = Deamon Prince
EDIT: oops sorry, i kept thinking that you wanted a 1500 points army, ill leave the comment on anyway incase you are thinking of a 1500 army.
Your army is slow and none too resilient, expect to get shot up and outrun by anything just about.
Daemons need units that can catch speedy enemies, get them out of their transports, and close with the guns quickly so they don't get gunned down. Cavalry and anything with wings are ideal for this.
Fiends are dirt cheap, extremely fast and versatile, and hit very hard. I highly recommend them. Using a unit or two allows you to close quickly, silence enemy guns, and knock out transports, leaving your really killy units, Bletters and Skully to do serious damage.
I wouldn't put Skully on a chariot, he already has a 3+ save, is an IC and costs a fair amount. Run him with Bloodletters.
Some shooting wouldn't hurt either, either Tzeentch Heralds on chariots or Tzeentch DPs. They bring bolt, which is your best ranged weapon and also capable of nailing armor.
For your Troops, I recommend Plaguebearers and Bloodletters. PBs are cheap, resilient, and ideal for holding objectives. BLs hit extremely hard, but are slow and fragile, so use them to mop up whatever your fast units leave. Daemonettes can work, they're just too soft and not as hitty. Horrors are expensive, soft, and really don't offer all that much (Daemons need little help killing infantry).

thanks for all the advice guys, I probably should have mentioned this before but i will be teaming up with a Tyranid player who is running 2 carnifexes, a Hive Tyrant, and then some combat warriors and gaunts/genestealers. I was thinking of running Fateweaver in this case and putting all of our big guys together.
Then my list would be the same as above plus Fatweaver and 2 Fiends. If i take 3 bloodletters and 3 daemonettes off each of those squads i can take 3 more fiends.
I really like the skulltaker on chariot because of his 4 wounds mostly but i don't want to take a regular herald because then i can't instant kill on a 4+.
