    1000 point khorne

I am new to CSM and warhammer altogether. I bought the Battleforce and a Chaos Lord. I plan to buy more and here is what I have so far from what I have and what I want. All help is appreciated. I don't need a highly competitive army but I want it to be good, of course

    HQ:
Chaos Lord +Mark of Khorne +Daemon Weapon - 140 points

    Troops
9 Khorne Berzerkers w/ Skull Champ and Rhino - 245 points
8 Khorne Berzerkers w/Skull Champ and Rhino
8 Chaos Marines w/ AC and Meltabombs - 140 points

    Elite
6 Posessed Marines w/ Mark of Khorne and AC - 160 points

    Heavy Support
1 Obliterator - 75 points (still need to get him)

That is all I got. Can you help me improve this list? Please no suggesting Daemon Prince thoguh because I have already bought the Chaos Lord.

    Thanks.

Well lets start with the HQ, The Chaos Lord with MoK Daemon Weapon is tons of fun granted. However I find them to be more effective with twin lightening claws, ton of attacks with re rolls to wound should carve open at least two MEQs a turn. The bezerkers are just fine, I'd take off the Meltabombs on the Marine squad. WIthout a rhino they'll be moving too slow to reach a tank to use them and if your using them for anti tank you'd be better off with the powerfist. Possessed are a fun unit but i would scarp em and get A) Chosen or Chaos Termis these units almost always make up there points more then possessed and move way faster.

    PS Welcome to Chaos

In my limited experience of Chaos I would take out the possesed in, for the far more versatile chaos terminators. yes possessed look like an awesome unit on the front of it, but they tend to fail dramitically and not make there points back

oh your obliterator will get shot to high heaven, people know what a threat it is, and for those that dont, it looks big and nasty, and its an easy kill point, i would advise on dumping it in favor of the a rhino and powerfist on your CSM unit, and drop the melta bombs and AC, you can move in the same turn you fire your AC, so more than likely it will simply sit there doing nothing, just slowly moving up the field, take either plasma if your going after troops, or melta if your tank hunting

    anyway thats my 2 cents
finding some space for naked Rhinos

Thank you both for your opinions.

But I have two more questions. Are Chaos Raptors worth getting in 1000 point? Or are they better if you use a Daemon Prince?

And what if you dropped the Obliterator for a Predator? I would probably ahve to drop something else.

    Thanks.

Chaos raptors are very good...I'd put in a squad of six w/ champ and pf and IoCG...you'll find they are worth the points. Also I would also reccomend removing the possessed. I hear they are fun but somethimes they just aren't really worth it. I would trade them for a pred or another oblite or another squad of CSM.

Don't feel bad that you don't use the possessed just because they come in the box set. I kit-bashed their limbs into my CSM's and they look great. Chaos marines are supposed to be mutants in my mind, 10,000 years in the warp? That is a messy place.

DP, wings, MoK is a great HQ

Defilers, +2 DCCW are also good

Khorne AC's have 3 attacks, so take a power fist, its the same price as other squads with an extra attack, so you pay less per hit. Fists are great for dreadnoughts, monstrous creatures, light tanks, and multi wound HQ models T4 or smaller, they get instant death for doubling the toughness.

Always take normal CSM's in squads of 10 with a second special weapon, AC w/ PF and rhino. They are a great support unit, really good in short range fire and close combat.

Obliterators are great. get more. if they are too expensive, buy a squad of terminators and some green stuff if you're a good modeler. I like to plant mine in a tall parapet of ruins and get a 4+ cover and LoS on most of the table.

Khorne Lord with Daemon weapon, you are going to NOT hit 1 of 3 close combats, which is a LOT. Get yourself a Kharn the Betrayer, he is a monster in CC, and very reasonably priced. I run word bearers and I still throw in Kharn occasionally.
