Default 1000 Points Starting Chaos

Hey everyone. I've mostly been sticking around the IG and DH forums, but I'm looking at potentially starting up a new army.

Since the first army I ever played was a tzeentch-heavy list for Warhammer Fantasy years back, I've been toying around with doing the same in 40k using either daemons or chaos marines. I've read through the codex two or three times and looked around on the forums.

I already posted a list in the daemons forum, but here's a crack at making a tzeentch-y chaos marines list.

My goal here is to be a bit fun fluffy (mostly tzeentch), but still be a bit competitive in the local circuit.

HQ
  • Daemon Prince - Mark of Tzeentch, Wings, Warptime, Doombolt - 185

Troops
  • x8 Thousand Sons - Aspiring Sorceror w/ Bolt of Change, Rhino - 281
  • x8 Thousand Sons - Aspiring Sorceror w/ Bolt of Change, Rhino - 281
  • x9 Chaos Marines - Aspiring Champion w/ Power Fist, x2 Melta, Rhino w/ Pintle TL-Bolter - 250

Total: 998

I'm wary of not taking any Obliterators or something that can handle Vehicles at long range. However at the same time I don't want to take less than 3 troop choices because I like being safe in the objectives department.

What do you guys think?

It actually looks quite good, i tend to add havoc launchers to my rhinos just to give them a nasty anti-troop edge to them but that's of course personal preference and i do see why people don't do it. Remind me again what does warptime do? is that the re-roll saves one or something like that. Also can you tell me how many points these daemon princes cost i left my codex at home lol and i can't remember these points costs off by heart.

Daemon prince of tzeentch with: wings, doombolt, wind of chaos
or exactly the same as above but without the wind of chaos.

I didn't really have the points for the Havok Launchers and I find that rhinos die very, very quickly so I don't find them working too often. Only reason the pintle TL-Bolter is there is because I didn't have anything else to spend 5 points on.

On the Prince, warptime is the ability that lets you re-roll all to-hit and to-wound dice. The first Prince you suggested is 190 and the second one is 160 (I think).

I would probably be willing to drop one Thousand Sons marine for the squad for some extra points, but I don't see where they'd go, probably Mark of Tzeentch on the CSM.

The CSM stays at a full 10 so that I can get the two meltaguns.

I have a squad of 1k sons and they kill all infantry up to marines just great. Terminators will cause you some troubles, use your meltas on them. I think this list will do some damage. It won't kill EVERYTHING out there, but you'll learn in time where they work and where they need some help.
