    1500pt Thousand Sons

    Hell o everybody...

    I just started recently with W40k and this is my first 1500pt list...

    I´m curious what you think about it.. it´s lots of fun to play with

    HQ: Not bad. He will be useful clumping units for plasma cannon or lashing enemies away from thousand sons after they have fired to keep them out of combat.

    Elites: Easy kill points. I would merge them to a unit of 5 and get IoT to make them resilient to fire. Add a chainfist as dread insurance and plenty of combi plasm/melta and the odd L claw.

    Troops: I dont like 5 man units in rhinos. Make the mechanised squads 9 strong and make the footslogger squad 6 or more. drop oblits to pay for this if you have to. bolt of change is a mediocre anti tank weapon at the best of times and you have to shut off the inferno bolts to use it. Take combimeltas on the rhinos or termies instead to deal with tanks.

    Heavy: good but troops are more important.

    Your Rhino units need to get bulked up and all be mounted, they don't need Combi's either. I don't know if you're walking or DSing those Assault Termies but it's not the greatest idea either way, I'd switch them to another shooty unit, still good in CC. You'll probably need to drop one unit to bump your Troops up though.

    Why isn't your Sorceror a DP? I think he's more expensive than a DP but slower and worse in CC.

    @Mad Cat:
    the 3 termies with lightning claws are a kamikaze unit, mainly meant to distract (or hopefully kill) the most annoying units on the field for a while so the oblis/defiler can shoot down other powerful units.
    but if you bulk them up, where would you remove points from?

    the problem is this, if i build up on troops and termies, simple dropping oblis costs me too much anti tank (or similar), and that will be a problem.

    And the rhinos are normally just transport for one doombolt squad to outflank smaller army parts, the other one serves as moving cover for the oblis...

    but could you write a quick proposal list 1,5k with your idea?

    That with the DP i gonna check later, not a big fan of demons though..

    Demon free chaos lists are unrealistic, it's your best HQ. You could run a winged Sorceror but not with Lash because you have to hide it behind Rhinos, so not good with what you have.

    Regular CSM are fine. You could use the Meltas and PF. I'd run 2 TS Squads and 1 CSM Squad, all bulked out for 3 solid Troop choices.

    @The Prince of Excess: hmm, yeah, the DP would be a better choice, I would still prefer not to play with it since I favor the sorc... (stupid i know, but its funnier for me, plus i like the small termie guard he has with the combi plasma)

    (Ahriman and his followers arent big "fans" of the whole mutations that are taking place in the ranks of their troops and that includes demons)

    the one squad with Doombolt can be changed into regal CSMs though, that would be interesting.

    Okej, I replaced the Termi Sorc with a DP and removed one squad of 1k Sons.

    That just gives me 185 points though, what would you do with that?
    Just simple 2x5CSM squads with plasmaguns?

    I think that your unit of 3 terminators with twin claws is a waste of points. They deepstrike then die, not to usefull. At least the termies with the sorcerer deepstrike, kill something then die.

    The deamon prince is way better then the sorcerer, but I understand fluff and in a Thousand Sons army a sorcerer is more apropriate with their background.

    What I would do with your list is mix the points for all your troops, rhinos, and the terminators with twin claws and make the following:
    - 10 CSM, Champ with fist, 2 meltaguns, IoCG, Rhino = 255 points
    - 8 Thousand Sons + sorcerer (total 9 to stay with fluff), doombolt, personnal icon, rhino = 294 points
    - 4 Thousand Sons + Sorcerer, doombolt, personnal Icon, rhino = 202
    - With the spare points add an other terminator to your "retinu" with a powerfist to give a little scare to independant characters and dreadnaughts.

    thanks for the feedback..

    I have to say that with my rolling luck and the usual opponents kill the regular CSMs like flies so i really need the invo save of the 1ks
    and the lightning claws are actually lot more effective then you´d think, since my whole army doesnt really have that much CC and those can be really annoying if used right.

    but anyway, i will change the army to play with your proposal at least once..

    btw regarding the Demon prince vs. Sorcerer, what do you think:
