    1750 Tourney

Well I originally had an 1850 rtt thread, but my store decided they might not due it because of lack of space. But there is a 1750 tournament coming up in February (Genghiscon in Denver that I will be going to with a crew from my store.

Here are two lists, I'm not sure which one I like better, so all opinions are greatly appreciated.

    List 1:
    HQ:
Great Unclean One: cloud of flies [165]
Herald of Tzeentch: Bolt, we are legion, master of sorcery, chariot [110]
Herald of Tzeentch: Bolt, we are legion, master of sorcery, chariot [110]

    Elites:
    6 Fiends: unholy might [190]
    5 Fiends: unholy might [160]
    5 Fiends: unholy might [160]

    Troops:
    7 Plaguebearers: Icon [130]
    6 Plaguebearers: Icon [115]
    6 Plaguebearers: [90]
    7 Nurglings [91]
    7 Nurglings [91]

    Heavy:
Daemon Prince of Tzeentch: Bolt, mark [140]
Daemon Prince of Nurgle: Instrument, Mark, Iron Hide, cloud, noxious touch, breath [190]

Total: 1742/1750 (will probably give an icon to something for 1747)

For the Great Unclean One, I think he could be a beast in CC, plus hard to take down, so dropping him close to the enemy wouldn't bother me too much.

The herald's are great buys, with the ability to potentially pop tanks and shoot out some anti-infantry.

The 7 Plaguebearers and two units of 7 Nurglings (in addition to being able to grab objectives) will be used as tar-pit units, either to stop shooting units (sternguard, etc) from doing their specialty, or to tie up units for my hard hitters to come in (GUO because he is slow, two Daemon princes, 3 units of Fiends).

With this list I have the two tzheralds, the TDP, and the fiends to take out vehicles. But one thing I am concerned about is not enough hard-hitters, I could take out a 5-man fiend squad and the nurglings and get some bloodletters, but then I lose my tarpitting for a unit that could get shot to pieces, but still do well in CC if they make it.

    2nd list: More MC focused.
    HQ:
    Bloodthirster: Might, deathstrike [290]
Great Unclean One: instrument, might, cloud of flies [185]

    Elites:
    3 Bloodcrushers [120]
    3 Bloodcrushers [120]

    Troops:
    8 Plaguebearers: Icon [145]
    8 Plaguebearers: Icon [145]
    6 Plaguebearers [190]
    6 Plaguebearers [190]
    7 Nurglings [91]

    Heavy:
Daemon Prince of Tzeentch: Bolt, mark [140]
Daemon Prince of Tzeentch: Bolt, mark [140]
Daemon Prince of Nurgle: Instrument, hide, cloud, noxious, breath of chaos, mark [190]

    Total: 1746/1750

For Great Unclean one reasons, see first list.
The two units of Bloodcrushers actually act as a mini MC unit, having more wounds and attacks than a Daemon Prince, with the same toughness and str (but higher str and I on the charge)

Once again I am running tar-pit units in the 7 nurglings and 2 squads of 8 plaguebearers (who might be able to hold their own in combat.

Bloodthirster, GUO, and Daemon Princes for taking out vehicles.

For both lists I'm still not sure how I would do the assault waves, just something I would have to work out when I start doing the lists. But I'm leaning towards MC's and bolts and 1 icon for the assault wave.

Anyway, thanks for reading the lengthy post.
    Cheers

I prefer the first. You could drop the icons, a couple PBs and Nurglings (5 is still 15 wounds) to fit in wings for your DP. More Fiends too, if possible. GUO is a brick, for sure, but he isn't particularly agile.

The second is a bit on the slow side without much way to bust up mech. The BT is your fastest model (the only one not going 6"), so once he goes down, mech plays keep away all day and you have nothing to do.

Yeah I agree with you about the 2nd list being screwed against Mech, thought about it a lot today, and switched that army to:

    Bloodthirster: might, deathstrike
    GUO: instrument, might, flies
    6 Fiends: might
    6 Fiends: might
    7 Plaguebearers
    6 Plaguebearers
    6 Plaguebearers
    6 Plaguebearers
    Soul Grinder: Phlegm
    Soul Grinder: Phlegm
Daemon Prince of Nurgle: instrument, hide, noxious, cloud, breath.

    Total: 1750/1750

Not sure why, but I really like that list.

For your advice for the list you liked, it would become

    GUO: cloud
    Tzerhald: legion, sorcery, bolt, chariot
    Tzerhald: legion, sorcery, bolt, chariot
    6 Fiends: might
    5 Fiends: might
    5 Fiends: might
    6 Plaguebearers
    6 Plaguebearers
    5 Plaguebearers
    5 Plaguebearers
    5 Nurglings
Daemon Prince of Tzeentch: Bolt, mark, gaze
Daemon Prince of Nurgle: Flight, hide, instrument, mark, cloud, noxious, breath

    Total: 1750/1750

I do have to say, building a daemons list to be competitive is one of the hardest things I have had to do in this game. Literally been sitting here for two weeks, making dozens and dozens of lists, very frustrating, lol. Deciding between slaanesh DP's or Nurgle DP's, DP's or SG's, heralds or GD's, large daemon packs or small daemon packs. Insane, especially since I never get a competitive vibe after the lists. However, I have had a great time painting a lot of my models at least

Thanks again ==Me==, my daemons guru.

Those both look pretty good, versatile, smashy and with enough of the right stuff to get it done.
