hey fellas, there's an upcoming 1500 pts tournament this weekend. i'll be facing necrons, tau, eldar and loooots of MEQ (BA & SW mostly). here's the list that made for this weekend. it's based on my regular 1500 pts, which i posted here a while ago but made some minor changes. so, here we go :
Daemon Prince 175 pts
wings, warptime, icon of nurgle
Chaos Space Marines x10 300 pts
Fist champion, 2xmeltagun, icon of nurgle, rhino w/ TL bolter
Chaos Space Marines x10 295 pts
Fist champion, 2xmeltagun, icon of nurgle, rhino
Khorne Zerkers x7 427 pts
Fist Champion, Possessed Raider
Oblits x2 150 pts
Defiler 150 pts
its 1497 pts total. what you guys think?
Troops: Plague Marines are far better than CSM with IoN. Take 2 squads of 8 with PF and meltas. Consider combimeltas on the transports too. they may encourage the enemy to shoot at empty rhinos or risk loosing a tank which should help the survivability of your other tanks. If you drop possession down to extra armour you can afford an 8th berserker too.

made the adjustements u suggested Mad. yeah i forgot about Plague Marines, lol... switched CSM to PM's now..
as for the possession, i'd rather not drop it because i don't wanna loose raider's shooting even just for 1 turn i'll ask the organizer if i can exceed 1500 by 1 point, if i can't, i'll upgrade sth rather then dropping possession.
tks for the advices man
I suppose being 1 point over you could drop a PM and add a berserker to put you 1 point under.

hmm, so instead of dropping one PM, i can give TL lascannon to Defiler. which one is better? dropping a PM to add a zerker or TL lascannon to defiler?
nah, you really want that defiler to pump nasty people full of his ordnance goodness! He can't do that when he's shooting lascannons, or the other way around...
though, your LR wont be able to either since it will be travelling max distance to unload those berzerkers as fast as possible...why not ditch that and get a rhino, add another defiler and something else...
However, your point may be a justification for dropping possession to extra armour.
so after the tournament..
there's no way i'm using a defiler again in a tournament it's AV 12 gave me hard time.. it was destroyed at first shot of first turn!! i played against a daemon army and a herald of tzeentch wrecked it in a single shot!! the raider and the oblits survived the whole thing tho.. guess i'll be using another 2 oblits instead of defiler..
arjuna, i'll try your suggestion in a friendly game, and gonna see what 3 squads of 2 oblits will do
Chaos work best with lots of high priority targets, I'd have thought that a raider, DP, oblits, berzerkers would have been enough. I guess that 2 more oblits could be better, but then your other units may take more firepower. The problem that defilers have is that they seem scary, so people focus on them, even if a raider of berzerkers is a bigger threat. You could try taking two, but then you could lose out on an important aspect somewhere else, or on versatility. It has always annoyed me that defilers are only AV12, 13 would be extremely useful.

In higher points games, or competitive settings, I choose Vindicators over Defilers. Give them possession, and they come out 5 points under a defiler, with front AV13 and a much smaller footprint, making them easier to move into cover. The idea just to stack in more obbies is always good though. With their weapons they can effectively shut down almost half a board.
Also, IMO, Defilers need an errata giving them monstrous creature. They are bigger than a DP with wings, yet stumble over some rocks.
The day will not save them. And we own the night.
