This is an army list for 1431 pts, i would appreciate some advice on how to improve it and get it to reach 1750 pts.
I made this list referring to a 4th edition codex so the point values for some units may have changed in 5th edition (im gonna get the new codex on ebay asap).
This list does not include special characters but allows for the special rule 'deep strike.' I am coming back to the game after five years away from it, had my first battle against tyranids with this army and won, but only my predator and rhino survived and that was because i had made sure to wear down and eventually kill the Hive Tyrant and two carnifexs which could take on the armour. My terminators and dreadnought packed a strong punch against a very large squad of genestealers, but succumbed in the end to a final surprise attack by three Lictors and a badly wounded Tyrant.
60 pts- Chaos Lord Exalted Champion
371pts- 8 Chaos terminators
2 heavy flamers
2 combi meltaguns/bolters
2 combi flamer/bolters
1 storm bolter
power weapons and chainfists.
130 pts- 6 Khorne bezerkers
2 plasma pistols
385 pts- 21 chaos space marines (divided into two squads)
1 heavy bolter
1 plasma gun
2 plasma pistols
1 plasma gun
50 pts- 1 Rhino
45pts- 1 Juggernought of Khorne
120 pts- 3 bikes, no special weapons?!
115pts- 1 Chaos dreadnought with plasma cannon
1 twin linked lascannon on the turrent
1 sponsor with lascannon
1 sponsor with heavy bolter
So thats it. I think i need more tanks for heavy suppourt and troop transport, maybe two more predators and another rhino? perhaps a landraider? I have been considering adding a sorcerer, some stuff like that would probably get it to 1750 pts, i dont really want to lose the bikes but i have heard they have become more impotent with new rules? maybe i should lose the lone juggernought of Khorne as well?
Mostly its painted nightlords style, the tanks are old edition ones, but nicely painted and converted. The Khorne beserkers, 11 of the marines, the juggernought and the lord are painted as a contingent of world eaters.
Also, with the new rules, can you have 2 heavy flamers within one terminator squad, and can you have a squad of three terminators?

Definately buy your codex first as there have been many changes and it's best to plan ahead.
HQ: You can take a chaos Lord still but I would go for a daemon prince or a sorceror.
Elites: Termies are still good. Get as many combiplasmas as you can on them and the odd chain or powerfist. They can take icons too to giive the unit bonuses. Dreads are now Elite choices and are even more unpredictable than they used to be.
Troops: Berserkers will need a rhino and a PF champion. CSMs should be 10 strong with a PF champ, 2 special weapons (both the same) and an Icon. Rhinos are useful too.
Fast: Bikes are over priced in points but can be decent with 2 meltas.
Heavy: Preds need sponsons the same. Turret AC+2LC is the best loadout.
Expansions: Go for 1-2 Princes. 2x5 Termies, 8 Berserkers, 2x10 CSM, 3 Bikes (if you must), Pred. Then look at an extra troop choice or more heavies such as a vindicator, defiler or 1-3 Obliterators.

Thanks Mad cat, just got 3 obliterators, a land raider and another predator + new codex. Your adivce about the weapons choices is great. Gonna change the predator sponsor and make one predator with a autocannon. I got a good tzeentch sorcerer model from Warhammer with a square base that i could use as a sorcerer lord. I realise that i said a terminator had a lascannon but that has to be an autocannon.
