So have a tournament coming up with 2v2, its me and prolly Space wolves partner. but this is a list i might be bringing let me know what ya'll think,
7 plague marines
2 melta guns
7 plague marines
let me know what you think
If you change that flamer in the second squad into another melta, or better yet, turn both the melta and flamer into plasma guns, and you've got yourself a pretty solid list.
World Eaters: W-47 D-10 L-9
Necrons: W-19 D-3 L-2
Protectorate of Menoth: W-36 D-0 L-7
ok in both sqauds i changed somethings, they both have 7 guys, 1 champ with power fist, 1 melta and 1 plasma... seems to be a good combo, now is it perfect?
I'd say go full plasma gun if you can for the Plagues. FNP and your regular save almost negate Get's Hot!, and the Daemon Princes and Obliterators take care of your offensive anti-tank. Your Plagues are most likely to sit on objectives, so the extra range of the plasma gun is better, and their ability to rapidfire is death to monstrous creatures and deathstar infantry.
It's best not to mix special weapons in our troop choices. Also, looking at your list, the melta guns are probably a better choice over plasma, since you will need them to bust open transports prior to an assault (same round synergy). While the oblits can easily pop enemy transports, they should be focusing on other high priority targets that your plague marines can't reach.
Tactics: Objective squatting is not something Chaos Marines do particularly well. We end up investing expensive units like Plague Marines, which would better serve our armies as spearhead support squads. Especially in small games, you don't want to have 25%-50% of your points hunkered down. Keep them on the move, advancing with your princes. You can always fall back to claim your home ojbective(s) during the last 2-3 rounds.
