    Kinda small 500 pts is usually for patrol scenrio type games. Take a Rhino and get more guys with plasma guns and meltas as tank hunters.

    I'd lose the defiler and get some plasma guns and maybe nurgles rot too (for the champions), for the points left over I'd get some nurglings (lots of wounds are cool in small games).

    my opinion is that the defiler just isn't worth it in 500 pts, so use your points on special weapons and/or another squad. with regards to the rhino, i'm not sure how useful that would be given the table size, and would rather opt to give them infiltrate.

    Getting rid of the defiler gives you all kinds of fun stuff to play around with. Flight and Daemonic Strength on your Lieutenant, for example. Although it usually is foolish to overextend yourself, in smaller games it doesn't matter so much as such a character can usually take on everything in his kill zone, and then consolidate into the same squad. Pretty much anything, honestly, would be better than the defiler. I would suggest plasma guns, as well, for your squads- along with powerfists for the aspiring champions.
