i am going to be playing a 3000 point battle with someone chaos vs tyranids this is my first battle in months and am going to need serious help in creating an army. i have no clue about the new tyranids so i dont no wat is effective against them so any help would be appreciated thank you.
Well one thing you'll needs is alot of fire power, not in str but the number is more important. Heavy bolters and autocannons will be very useful agianst them. Also throw in some ord or blast temp weapons such as plasma cannons, or missle launchers. Also you will need a couple hard hitting weapons to snipe out the synapse creatures. Other then that I think it comes down to luck.
Iron Warriors 9/1/0 (w/l/d)
World Eatters 15/1/0
I played Tyranids a lot over the summer, I found that Defilers can be helpful... however sometimes... you just get bad rolls I dont know what army you play, but if you can take a few lascannons, I would sure do it... Or maybe missle launchers... for the big MCs... carnis and tyrants hurt... alot. However devrok is right, you need A LOT of firepower, even if they are bolters, the more bolters you have the better, 'Stealers and 'Gaunts go down like nothing to bolter fire, but once they reach your lines... you will not be happy... stealers have WS6 and I5 or better... I think its 6 actually... with rending... its scary. So basically, if your just playing a cleanse mission... just sit there, and shoot anything that is bold enough to get into the open... or just blast them out of hiding with the defiler :p preds are amazing.. I usually take a TL LC turret and HB sponsons for nids... works very well, i have taken down a carni in 1 turn with one... (lucky rolls.. but i took him down)
Other than that... Have fun!
You Can't Stop the Eighp
Had Tzeentch before I knew how to play :P
The anti bug squads is are heavy bolter, flamer, and havocs with 4 heavy bolters, and a small unit of CSM with 2 flamers, they'll purge the horde like there is no tomorrow.
