its not a bad started list, but you should think about a point to your tactics. Your list is very space marine type, do to the all aroud good but lack true strength type of thing. Look for good combination in unit choices. Also, IW almost never use fast attack because of the ability to have heavy support. In my oppion it would be nice to switch the raptors for a preditor or rocket devastatores.
"Iron within, iron without."
Thanks Pur1f1er, anyone else? Im surprised Caulin hasn't ripped my list a new one. (Your good with tips Caluin no offense ) I read other army lists i know...I...know...
No offense taken, but you shouldn't invoke the name of gods unless you wish to feel their wrath. (Not at all egotistical, am I?) But next time, spell my name right.Originally Posted by Facade
But, since you asked nicely, I'll oblige you. Asking nicely goes a long way with me.Some quick tips. Atleast add on a Bolt Pistol. +1 attack for one point is just too good to pass up. Secondly, you should probably have Daemonic Strength. Strength four isn't high enough to threaten anyone. In low points games, you probably don't need to level (effectively) six attacks around, so Mutation is probably overkill. Aura will be a much better investment.Originally Posted by FacadeWell, why the Terminators? I honestly don't think you need them, especially in a 1K point game. I'll come back to them.Originally Posted by Facade
Oh, and only 200 points. Here, you should drop two marines and use the points to invest into a Champion with a Powerfist. Five wounds is still a fine amount to protect the gunners + Champ, and will give the unit some much needed "bite" when it comes to Close Combat. (Which will happen if they have to start Rapid Firing)Originally Posted by FacadeI'm coming up with only 203 for this squad, Rhino included. That's quite a few points you're shorting yourself. We'll talk about how to re-invest those points in a moment.Originally Posted by Facade
The Rhino should have Extra Armour. However, I suggest dropping it altogether. Being your second piece of armour in the list, it's all but gaurunteed to be destroyed by turn 2, if not turn 1. Waste of points. Infiltration is better.
Never put Plasma Pistols on a Champion. It's a very expensive model to lose should you fail the overheat. Plasma Pistols on a normal trooper are the exact same price, exact same effeciency, and don't cost you the Champion should they blow up. Stick to Bolt Pistols. As Purifier said (Listen to him - smart man when it comes to Iron Warriors), your Raptors don't fit. They serve no purpose, other than to give your opponent free Victory Points. Five is far too small of a unit to do any damage in Close Combat, they have no Champion to level any type of threat, and no special weapons to make use of outside of combat. These are the weakest part of your list, and should really be dropped.Originally Posted by FacadeWell, everyone know I don't like Defilers, but that's not important. No special upgrades, which is nice, but don't expect it to live long. It'll be the target of every heavy weapon avaliable until it dies, which won't take long with only an AV of 12.Originally Posted by Facade
Looking at the list, I have to wonder - why bother even calling yourself Iron Warriors? You make use of none of the advantages.
Caluin's quick fixes -
1) You're Iron Warriors! Act like it man! Drop that Defiler - any ol' legion can have one. Take a Vindicator! Give it Daemonic Possession, and strike fear into your opponent!
2) Drop the Raptors. Not needed. Their points plus the points from the over payments on two groups brings you up to 202 free points left. Let's spend.
*Buy two Melta Guns for the Assault squad. This only costs you ten points, since you don't want that Plasma Pistol anyways.
*Swap the Defiler for the Vindicator as indicated earlier.
*Buy a Predator with Autocannon turret and Lascannon Sponsons with Daemonic Possession. One of the best loadouts for trashing tanks and heavy infantry alike. It'll also absorb alot of fire, which along with the Vindicator, leads us to...
*Buy a second Rhino with EA and SL for the Plasma Gun squad. Even if they never use it, it'll be nice to have. With the Vindicator and Predator, you stand a very good chance of both Rhinos surviving until turn 3, at which point they've done their job.
You'll notice we're over by three points, if you kept up on the math. My solution is this - drop the Reaper Autocannon. You have plenty of anti-tank already, with the Melta Guns and Predator, so you don't need it any longer. Buy Chainfists for two Termies, just in case however.
Another option is to drop the Termies all together, since they really don't "fit" with the army. Buying a second assault or plasma squad would be a very good substitute for them.
Remember - these are just ideas. They are not gospel. It's your army, and you're free to do with it as you see fit.
Err, thanks but i did spell your name right...and i dont own a vindicator or a pred and they cost money for a young person like me..........thanks again
Well, it's not that hard to make a Vindicator or a Predator out of cardboard. At least a hundred times easier than a Defiler.Originally Posted by Facade
