I have not played with this army and this is my first go at building a 1000pt force. All advice welcome, i feel this could be a balanced army but would also welcome ideas on tactics as well.
Lord - MON, Terminator Armour, Man Reaper, Daemonic Strength, Daemonic Resilience.
Retinue - 5 Terminators, MON, Reaper Auto Cannon.
7 Plague Marines - MON, Campion, Power Fist, Plasma Gun.
7 Plague Marines - MON, Campion, Power Fist, Flamer.
7 Plague Marine Havocs - MON, Campion, 3 Plasma Guns, Melta Gun.
Dreadnought - Twin Linked Lasconnons.
I think it is okay, Not a death guard player myself. Umm are your marines going into close combat? if so infiltrating is a good idea s they get there fast, make sure they have ccw and bp. Then instead of a flamer and a plasma maybe give each a melta... there are probably more experienced people that can give you help but this is just my opinion
Well at the moment im not going for a close combat army, more a very well balanced army. I want the army to be hard to kill like any Death Guard army should be and i want each squad capable to deal with anything to an extent.
well what do you want out of your troop squads. As for your heavy, though it is more costly, take the autocannons. 4 of them...take advantage of the havocs being able to take 4 heavies.
Umm, I'm not sure about the Termies. but I would rather get rid of them, beef up the rest of the army and maybe look at oblitorators?
You cant do that, its one of the problems facing a death guard army. They cant take heavy weapons. And they cant have obliterators either.
As for the troops i just want numbers to take on oponents troop choices and hold some ground. The key in the army is the Lord and his terminators. They are going to be responsible for taking on any hard units. Im thinking of infiltrating the havocs tho.
With the points left over you can get infiltrate on all your squads, my reccomendations, and 2 squads of 7 plaguebearers.m now you have 9 morte models and an upclose and personal army, however it is your choice to take my suggestins. good luckOriginally Posted by Hudson
The thing is i did want the terminator squad, for starts i want a hard to kill army and they fit the bill. Also i like the Typhus model and prefer his unit were terminators, i also have some conversion ideas with this squad.
So if i lose the dreadnought where are the big guns gonna come from? I would worry if i didnt have at least one Lascannon in the army.
It's all fine and dandy liking the models, but it would be much more worth your while if you had them in 1500 points or more, rather than 1000.
I think the dreadnought is fine.
I take 2 like that, and the prove excellent anti-tank.
But if i can play the game the way i want to and still enjoy myself then i am a winner no matter what the result.
When i choose a force to play with it usually depends on just a few factors. The models, the fluff, and the ability to use them in a way that suit my tactics.
I like the Typhus model, i like the fluff and the idea of nurgle, and i like the idea of a very tough army, without loads of tanks or heavy weapons.
So what better start to an army for me than to have a Death Guard army led by a Lord tooled up like Typhus, surrounded by a retinue of toughness 5 terminators.
Does anyone think that there is a place for terminators in this army. Maybe if i could make the terminators a little more effective, then may be more worth while.
