    [1000] Alpha Legion - Friendly

During a period of downtime in France, I went to one of the GW stores there and saw a game involving the Alpha Legion. I've always liked their fluff (my Emperor's Children were built with a very Alpha Legion-like mentality in mind) but didn't know how well they would perform in practice. After seeing how powerful they could be, my imagination was sparked and so I decided to write a little something here, maybe I'll actually make this list someday

    HQ
    ---
Chaos Sorcerer - Mark of Chaos Undivided, Infiltrate, Daemonic Aura, Doombolt, Bolt Pistol, Close Combat Weapon - 97 points

    Troops
    --------
10 Chaos Space Marines - Mark of Chaos Undivided, Infiltrate, Bolters, Lascannon - 173 points

10 Chaos Space Marines - Mark of Chaos Undivided, Infiltrate, Bolters, Lascannon - 173 points

13 Assassin Cultists - Mark of Chaos Undivided, Cult Champion, [Power Weapon] - 106 points

12 Assassin Cultists - Mark of Chaos Undivided, Cult Champion, [Power Weapon] - 99 points

    Heavy Support
    ----------------
8 Chaos Havocs - Mark of Chaos Undivided, Infiltrate, 4 Autocannons - 208 points

Questions? Comments? Criticisms? All are welcome.

This guy should really have some form of Powerweapon. HQ units thrive in Close Combat. Doombolt by itself is not worth buying a 97 point model for. If you think about it, you're basically paying 97 points for a roaming, short ranged Heavy Bolter.

Just how many extra wounds do you need protecting that Lascannon? Four or five is usually enough, but nine is overkill.

Also, I would swap out BP+CCW instead of the Bolters. Anything that your Lascannon is firing at the bolters will be mostly ineffective. However, with the Bolt Pistol+CCW combo, you can have yourself a decent chance as surviving in a Close Combat situation. Or, after all the heavy targets are dead, you have a halfway decent counter strike unit.

Both of these units are fine. Maybe consider giving Daemonic Strength to the Champion to help with the to wound rolls.

Very nice. If you can find some points, buy Tank Hunters as well - while you do have two Lascannons already, the Tank Hunters will give you a much better chance at taking down things like Landspeeders or Falcons.

I wonder where your "bite" is at? Do you plan on shooting your opponent to death, while using the two Cultist units to act as speed bumps?
