    2000 points Alpha Legion (Friendly)

    HQ

Chaos Lord :- Dark Blade, Daemonic Speed, Daemonic Resiliance, Daemon Armour, Spiky Bits, 2 Chaos Hounds, Bionics, Mark of Chaos Undivided (169)

Chaos Lieutenant:- Terminator Armour, Twin Lightning Claws, Daemonic Mutation, Daemonic Resiliance, Daemon Strength, Furious Charge, Mark of Chaos Undivided (145)

    Elites

4 Chosen Terminators:- 1 Reaper Autocannon. All have Furious Charge and Mark of Chaos Undivided

7 Possessed:- Daemonic Talons, Aspiring Champion with Power Weapon and Chaos Spawn. All have Mark of Chaos Undivided.

Rhino:- Extra Armour, Smoke Launchers ( 58 )

    Troops

12 Chaos Cultists :- 1 Icon Bearer, Cult Champion with Power Weapon. All have the Mark of Chaos Undivided and are Assassins. (99)

9 Chaos Space Marines :- 2 Plasma Guns, Aspiring Champion with Power Sword. All have Mark of Chaos Undivided and Infiltrate. (187)

10 Chaos Space Marines:- All have bolt pistols and close combat weapons. Aspiring Champion with Plasma Pistol, Power Sword and Daemonic Aura. All have Mark of Chaos Undivided and Infiltrate (190)

    7 Bloodletters (182)

    Heavy Support

Chaos Defiler:- Heavy Flamer, Lascannons (210)

6 Chaos Havocs:- 3 with missile launchers, 1 with Autocannon. Tank Hunters (182)

6 Chaos Havocs:- 3 with heavy bolters, 1 with plasma gun (162)

Basic Idea is to get cultists to an objective/vital point for daemon summoning, using defiler/havocs to take out threats to them (such as ordanance). By using infiltrate I hope to get closer to the enemy, and then blast them with rapid fire plasma/bolters. The possessed are accompanied by the Lord in the Rhino.

Close Combat Support is built around the close combat marine squad, and the other marine squad (in an emergency) can rely on WS 4 to win the day if need be. once the cultists have served their purpose for daemon summoning, they will cower behind their daemonic allies and then charge whatever they can to keep them from being shot up. I decided not to go for the Daemon Prince, as I thought it would be easier to keep him as a lord, for the sake of being shot at and joining units etc. Although under the new rules he now counts as a Daemon....oh well!!

    Heavy Support

Chaos Defiler:- Heavy Flamer, Lascannons (210)
bad, bad, bad, bad. Now that I have educated you, drop this right away, 1. it is not good in alpha legion, you guys are too close to the thing that goes boom, 200 points for 12, 12, 10 armour that is in the open, are you smoking pot, crack, pcp, opium? , this is the worst thing in your list
6 Chaos Havocs:- 3 with missile launchers, 1 with Autocannon. Tank Hunters (182)
do not mix weapons, either all ml or all autos, chose, i like autos
6 Chaos Havocs:- 3 with heavy bolters, 1 with plasma gun (162)
same as above, if you want p guns then infiltrate

i think you might need at least another squad of cultist, cause 12 guys are not goona last a shooting turn, especially if they are the only ones that can summon the demons.

i would drop the terminators, they dont feel alpha legion to me, but that is up to you.

i recommand powerfist for you champions, you wont know when that would help you against tough monsters.

maybe give your Lt inflitrate and demonic speed, so he/she can go with the lord, and charge into h2h on the 1st turn.

Looking at your list overall, I’m a bit concerned about how small your force is for 2,000 points. Possibly your Havoc Squad with the HB and PG may be better as a CSM Squad with 1x HB and 1x PG.

The Daemon Prince: remove the 2 Chaos Hounds, and Bionics from him. As Orkimedes said, give him BP, Aura and Infiltration. From what I can see, the Codex does not give A Daemon Prince a 5+ Invulnerability save, even though he uses Instability rules. Is there a ‘fix’ by GW for this anywhere?

If you play without Infiltrate/Deep Strike, the Possessed could be hung out to dry very easily. Obviously you need to Assault as fast as possible with the Possessed, but your Rhino has a huge target painted on it saying “kill me extremely easily and quickly?. Adding a Pintle Bolter can increase the potential survivability of a Rhino a little, and is handy if it survives past the first round. Note also that although Spawn look good, and are nice in Assault, they can’t be transported in vehicles or Infiltrate. Lose it for another Possessed.

As Orkimedes said, get Meltaguns for your second CSM squad. However, I think that ML and AutoC is a decent combination for a Havoc Squad, and field one similar to this myself.

Are you sure your points are right for the Defiler. In the Codex the basic Defiler + upgrade to TwL Lascannon = 180pts. Even with Indirect Fire its only 205pts. Again this vehicle shouts “kill me extremely quickly?, so you need to be careful in your deployment. Smoke Launcher may be handy, just in case.

Personally I would lose the Lieutenant, and add a few more Terminators, inc’ an Aspiring with Daemonic Strength. If at all possible, upgrade your Terminators assault weapons to a mix of Power Fists and Claws. Also having 2 more guys gets you a second Reaper Autocannon. I use one with a Chainfist too. Furious Charge is o.k. on this squad.

Give the Aspiring with the 10 CSM a Teleport Homer, just in case of problems. For 5pts it’s handy insurance.

As for the Cultists, if they where a suicide squad, just to get in the way, 12 is o.k. though 11 or 13 would be better. As Orkimdes and Warsmith pointed out, as they are the only Summoning unit, you either need plenty more, or a second unit. Lose the Power Weapon though, the points can go towards more useful things.

    Hope this helps

Like the others said, this is indeed a very top-heavy list. With only four troops in a 2000 points list and so much locked up in the HQ and Elite section...I don't think it will win all to much.
You have also managed to near completely ignore the Infiltrate skill for which the Alpha Legion is rightfully feared, that feels a bit awkward in my mind. I'll have a quick go through as the very long answer I wrote earlier seems to have been lost in cyberspace ( yes, that's right I'm old enough to use a word like that without embarrassing:shifty: ).

    Chaos Lord
Like the others said, drop some things and get Aura, Boltpistol and Infiltrate. With Infiltrate and Daemonic Speed he'll near allways get a first turn charge.

    Chaos Lieutenant
This guy would have been good if he was your only HQ but to have two so potent guys seems a bit on the spending side for me. You could at least drop the expensive Furious Charge the retuine can have it but he has I5 already so it could be considered a bit of overkill.
    Elites

    4 Chosen Terminators
Those guys should have at least one chainfist, to be able to deal with anything.

    Lt+Chosen
I would drop those, as they are very expensive and you could very welll use those points elsewhere.

    7 Possessed
This is another very expensive unit and in a rhino on top of that. The champ cannot have power weapon as he already has Talons and the Spawn cannot be transported in the Rhino. "Who let that thing in? He is drewling on the ammo...don't poke me with those claws...stop mutating while I drive I told you!!!"

    Troops

    12 Chaos Cultists
The only summoning unit as you've been told. If you don't want them in CC, why not give them melta bombs?
    9 Chaos Space Marines
Quite good. I would however like to see a power fist on the champ, but that's me.

    10 Chaos Space Marines:-
Drop the Aura and plasma pistol on the Champ. The pistol might blow this one-wound model to pieces and the Aura is just not good since he is a part of the unit and has "10 wounds". He cannot be singeled out in CC either if you are a bit careful.

    7 Bloodletters (182)
Good, maybe add a couple for some improved durability.

    Heavy Support

Chaos Defiler:- Heavy Flamer, Lascannons (210)
Lascannon on a defiler is quite a no-no-thing. Indirect fire on the other hand is more of a yes-ye-thing. One can debate if you should have a defiler at all in a Alpha Legion since they "are" (should be) infiltrating.

6 Chaos Havocs:- 3 with missile launchers, 1 with Autocannon. Tank Hunters (182)
Don't mix weapons in the Havoc-squads. And for the Love of Hate, infiltrate those Havocs. Not to set them up close to the enemy but to set them up after the enemy tanks and juicy targets are in place.

6 Chaos Havocs:- 3 with heavy bolters, 1 with plasma gun (162)
The plasma gun confuses me...Why is it there? It shoots like 2/3 as far and slow. Change it for another Heavy Bolter and...that's right Infiltrate.

I'm not an Alpha Legionare by any means but I relly think you should take advantage of the obvious benefits: Infiltrate and Cultists. the Cultists are great chargers if given the Assasination skill set and good tank/bunker busters if given Melta bombs.
Your very expensive Elites and HQ do limit you quite a lot I must add, try to shave a few points there.

    Good lLuck and welcome back.
