Iron Warriors 2000 points, first attempt

I know this probably looks a bit cheesy, but I've had one attempt at a 1500 army (which worked quite well against an experienced Dark Angels player) and I'm now looking at 2000 points.

I know the Prince and the Raptors dont really fit with the whole Iron Warrios way of doing things, but I am hoping they will provide me with some more dynamic options.

I look foward to hearing what you think.

    HQ = 201

Daemon Prince (Lord /w the following items)
    +Furious Charge
    + Daemonic Speed
    + Daemonic Armour
    + Demonic Aura
    + Daemonic Rune
    + Dread Axe
    + Daemonic Stature
    + Frag Grenades

    Troops =226

    7 CSM 113
    + Heavy Bolter
    + Plasnma gun

    7 CSM 113
    + Heavy Bolter
    + Plasnma gun

    Heavy Support =625

    Defiler 150
    +Indirect Fire

    Defiler 150

    Defiler 150

    Defiler 150

    Elites =630

    3 Obliterators 210

    3 Obliterators 210

    3 Obliterators 210

    Fast Attack =307

    7 Raptors
    + Infiltrate
    + Furious Charge
    + 5 BP (& CCW)
    + 2 Plasma Pistol (& CCW)
    [inc: 1 Aspiring Champion]
    + Infiltrate
    + Furious Charge
    + Power Weapon

    Total cost = 1989

    Thanks for looking

    Daemon Prince
Daemonic Rune isn't neccesary - it'll take a strenngth 10 weapon to instant kill you, which are pretty rare, so you should be fine.

    Heavy Support =625

    Defiler 150
    +Indirect Fire

    Defiler 150

    Defiler 150

    Defiler 150

    Elites =630

    3 Obliterators 210

    3 Obliterators 210

    3 Obliterators 210
Be ready to get called cheesy....

    I'd switch a Defiler for a Basilisk.

    7 Raptors
You may want to change the plasma pistols to melta guns.

    Cheers!
    Ben

Thanks, good point about the Daemonic Rune.

I know its cheesy, but its exactly what you expect from IW isnt it? ;-)

I'd kill the raptors, being the only unit that has an ability to really move, they wouldn't have much personel support if anything attacked them.

I'd ditch them and get one more unit of troops, and get each troop choice a rhino. Then they have to make a choice. Shoot at the rhinos moving towards them, or shoot at the Demon prince, obliterators, and 4 defilers.

    Iron Warriors Army list

Very nice Daemaon Prince, it is simalar to the one I am creating.
With Daemonic Rune you are over points on Daemonic Gifts, IamAngel is right strength 10 is rare, so far for me if there is one on the table its not to hard to avoid.
4 Defilers do look a bit cheesy to me, especially if I sore them in a tournament, plus it might become a bit boring construction/painting/gaming wise, a bit of variety would be fun,
The Basilisk is sort of a good Defiler in itself but cheeper, The Vindicator is great too, with the most powerful gun in 40k. Preds, Havocs, land Raiders, Dreads, there all there.

Iron Warriors can have some heavy support choses that no other chaos General can have.
In Some fluff I read it also says they use Dreadnoughts as their main assult weapons.
The 3 units of Obliterators is a great choice, carnt go wrong with them.
Its the troops that you lack a bit in, it what sways your army to be a bit more cheesy.
A third squad would not be to far from the point I am trying to make. Maby in a Rhino like what Dominuce25 said,
These are a few of the changes I would make, and since I am creating a Iron Warriors Army Myself, Would anyone care if I put up my Army List too to help us all decide and create the best fair/looking/gaming, Iron Warriors Army.

Drop rune and give your lord a servo arm. It's a piece of wargear, so it's legal for a statured prince and will give him a strength 10 attack.

I like the idea of having assault units in an IW army. I'd personally go for bikes instead of raptors, but that's a personal decision. And replace the indirect firing defiler with a basilisk.

Other than that, it's more or less a standard IW army.

Thanks for the advice - Tyrant, what's your list?

Can you choose Terminators as an HQ choice?

No, however, you can equip your HQ with Terminator Armour.

    Cheers!

OK I am back, sorry I was late.
So a Iron warroirs list it is.

The idea of starting Iron warroirs came form a White Dwarf Mag battle report (I think 275) were Pete Haines Black legion battled Andy Hoares Iron Warriors.
It was when the 40k Daemon Prince just came out, I was so inspired by the X painting of the army and the models it included that one thing led to another.
This list is based off that list.

    HQ
    Daemon Prince
: Mark of Chaos Undivided, Master-crafted great weapon, Spiky Bits, Furious charge,
Daemonic armour, Daemonic aura, Daemonic essence, Daemonic Mutation, Daemonic
strength, Daemonic resilience, Daemonic stature. =213pts

    Chaos Sorcer
: Sorcer, Mark of Choas Undivided, Power weapon, bolt pistol, Wind of chaos.
: Joine Chaos squad 1 in Rhino. =96pts

    Elites
    Obliterators Cult 1
    : squad 3 =210pts

    Obliterators Cult 2
    : squad 3 =210pts

    Troops
    Chaos Space Marine squad 1
    : squad 9.
    : 2 with meltaguns.
    : 7 with bolters.
    : all have MOCU.
    : Rhino transport, E armour, smoke. =213pts

    Chaos Space Marine squad 2
    : squad 7.
    : 1 with a plasma gun.
    : 1 with a lascannon.
    : 5 with bolters.
    : all have MOCU. =130pts

    Chaos Space Marine squad 3
    : squad 7.
    : 1 with a plasma gun.
    : 1 with a lascannon.
    : 5 with bolters.
    : all have MOCU. =130pts

    Heavy support
    Chaos Dreadnought 1
    : DCCW, Plasma cannon.
: Daemonic possession, Mutated hull. =165pts

    Chaos Dreadnought 2
    : DCCW, Plasma cannon.
: Daemonic possession, Mutated hull. =165pts

    Basilisk
    : Indirect fire. =125pts

    Vindicator
: Daemonic possession, Mutated hull, Parasitic possession. =195pts

    Around 1850 pts:w00t:

The only thing I don't like in Tyrant's list is the vindicator. Its got a great weapon, and with mutated hull it makes it even more durable. But I've never liked the range of the weapon. I prefer predators, and I like the defilers. But all that comes down to preference.
