I am trying to go with this Iron Warrior artillery themed army. They move into a position, fortify it and then pound away at enemy positions throughout the city with the Basilisk.

I ran this against a nid army last night. Fire Mission Omega (I think... had 3 strats). I lost the mission because I couldn't take the take the objectives but I almost wiped out the nid player, leaving only a very wounded Carni and HT. If we went another turn, they would have been very very dead. I lost only one squad and both rhinos.

Anyway. I used to play Necrons so Chaos is very different. Sooo many upgrades!

    Thoughts on this list?

I would chose between the two.
If you are going to keep the vindi, don't mutate its hull, perhaps daemonic posession so it can always shoot, but otherwise just keep it as cheap as possible.

oofta, right now this squad is a mixed bag of confusion with zero ability to take casualty.
You need numbers in the havoc squad to eat up wounds when they get shot at.
Make them 8 man strong, and make all the heavy weapons the same.
I suggest 4x Missile launchers or 4x Autocannons.

I would take a second havoc squad over a dreadnaught and one of the tanks above.
at 1850, just because you CAN take 4 heavies doesn't mean its prudent to do so.
If you take my advice above, and this advice, make them a matched pair of havoc squads.
One with autocannons, one with MLs.

Keep plasma off of your raptors, PERIOD. They are expensive models and you don't want overheats to have a chance to kill them off. Meltas are far better for them, AND they are assault weapons.
Otherwise, make them 7 or 8 man strong, with furious charge,MoCU
get RID of the lightning claws, and give him a power weapon(NOT master crafted) DO NOT give him melta bombs.
They can hunt tanks with the meltas, and hunt infantry with the assault/hit and run.
Do not even consider assaulting to blow up a tank, they COME with krak grenades if you MUST assault a tank.

    8 man squads are sufficient.
why give them frags if they are not going to be pressing the assault, right no they are a sit and shoot- fire support squad.
Give them CCW+ BP so they can hold their own if assaulted, and give one of the guys a plasma gun to support when sitting still.

ALL of your troops should have an Aspiring champion with powerfist + Bolt pistol
again 8 man is enough in cities of death. you only lose half VPs when you drop below 25%

Make this a Lord- stature, Dreadaxe, D.Speed,D.Resiliance, D.Aura, CCW, Frags, F.Charge.
He is going to be your counter attack pain in the butt for the enemy.
    He allows no saves, period

Argh, KILL the chosen and grab some oblits.
I would 100% of the time grab a second squad of oblits over a heavy choice. Obliterators are that good. period.
At 1850, there is no (in game) excuse to not have at least 2 squads of 3 or 3 squads of 2 obliterators.

Alright, general thoughs on this list,
    1) No obliterators, IW's huge advantage is not in the 4x heavies, its the fact that you can have up to 9 obilterators on the board. At 1850, 6 is sufficient. Obliterators are an awesome unit, there's a reason why every other chaos force can either take ONE squad or none.

    2) Not enough troops. 4- 8 man squads is the minimum I would run at 1850pts.
They are the backbone of your army, they are the objective takers, holders and kick butt guys. They are dependable and cheap, THEY will win you games more than any other unit.
Infiltrate 2(or all) of these squads so you can deploy them last. It is worth the points. ESPECIALLY in cities of death where you will be guaranteed to be allowed to infiltrate even at alpha level missions.

    Hope this helped.

Some of the changes you suggested I can't model yet. I have the bits but not the time to make them by the time the play date comes.

Gonna make some changes like you listed and play it out this weekend.

I really liked the raptor change, something I didn't consider.

    Thanks!
