So after severl posts and a lot of help I came to a decision on a 500 pt chaos army. This was meant to take on Necrons but now we have two more players that are going space marines. What I came to is what I was thinking about using and wanted some advise on whether I should stick with this plan for the time being. There is a chance that I will be fighting space marines instead of Necrons now though. Below is the list I have come to:
HQ (Leut with Mark of Chaos Undived)
(Still have another 66 pts or so that I can use to deck out HQ)
3 Squads of Chaos Marines all with:
(Mark of Chaos Undivided)
All 3 units will have:
1x Meta Gun
1x Plasma gun
This all came to 434 pts with another 66 pts for adding equipment and deamoic skill to my HQ. Aside from decking out my HQ is this a deceant 500 pt army? We're going to be playing soon so i need to make my final decision soon. We will be moving to 1000 pts in the next month or so but for now we're sticking to 500. Any help would be awesome!
Personally, I think you lack any long range "bite." Landspeeders will be your worst nightmare, and you should fully expect to see the flying contraptions in any points level. They're absolutely brutal, and will eat your units alive as they have no effective defense against them.
Consider taking a small sized Havocs squad, about six men, and two Autocannons in the unit.
Or even better, Obliterators. They'll allow you to move around with your Heavy Weaponry, though are much more fragile to the Rending Assault Cannons.
For 500 pts? Your saying to drop a squad and use those points to add a obliterator or some havocs? As long as I can fit it in under 500 pts. I guess my units are all more equipped for cc than ranged.
I think an obliterator is certainly in order, even at 500pts, if not two fielded separately.
W/D/L Eleventy trillion billion/NONE/ NONE - I am STILL rulezor!
WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
Yeah, good call. I went to Games Workshop last night and one of the managers told me the same thing...to get an obliterator. Done and added. Thanks!
I am in the same boat. Won't an oblitorator be just a big target? What about Havocs with autocannons (2 or 4). Would that be better then 1 oblitorator?
What about raptors?
