    [1500][Death Guard][Needs major help]

So i bought the Chaos Codex today and after struggling my way through its pages, (it really is not put together to be user-friendly is it?) I've decided upon Grandpappy Nurgle and the Death Guard. The idea here is to compensate for lack of heavy weapons with Infiltrating, High-Toughnes models. I really need some pro advice here.

Army list is a few posts below this......

    1) All model's come with a ccw and bolter so no need to pay out again.

    2) Daemonic stature and MoN? No problem.

    3) Dedicating a vehicle give's it a power specific ability, and yes they are..

One thing though, you can't field a Lord and a Daemon prince because they come from the same 0-1 entry ( Lieutenant would be fine though ).

As for anti-tank, you can take up to two melta gun's per squad, four if you use havoc squad's.

I'm no Nurgle-player so I'll keep my advice to legality-matters, and some more...
Terminators cannot use Frag-grenades, they can only use items and weapons with an asterisk next to it in the Armoury.

Your Terminator HQ-choice (who really should be a Lt) counts toward the sacred number in the Retinue.
    Terminators cannot Infiltrate.

    OK, some more...
Your Defilers should have Indirect Fire, it's a great upgrade.
You also need some power fists in your squads. Especially the Terminators.

I'll leave the list critisism to the dedicated sicklings...

Latest version of the list. Managed to fit in the HQ choices that I like, as well as keeping the nasty unit of Terminators and another squad of infiltrating CSM. Dropped a defiler but kept one in order to bomb the hell out of the other side of the enemy force...(i plan to swamp one half of the lines with the troops). The HQ's are beautifully cheap but very very nasty.

It all look's pretty good till you get to the Defiler's...
Firstly your's are very expensive for what they can do, and secondly with all your Plague marine's infiltrating, indirect fire ordnance is liable to hurt you as badly as it hurt's your opponent...
Personally I would take Predator's ahead of the Defiler's.

I love nurgle's rot, it goes on all my DG ACs and ICs. If it kills 2 MEQs per game (total), it made back its cost for every time u take it. My ork friend just cries every time I get to roll 30-35 dice when he swamps my lord. Just my personal opinion, but its worked great for me

i disagree with inderect fire a defiler is usally very well protected from the enemy behind a hill or somthing AND there are only so many inches that it scatters it aint that bad just aim it away from where you're troops are concetrating and carpet bomb the other flank and besides even if ya kill a couple of your own guys who cares? ya can't egg somones house without breaking a few ^_^

my thoughts exactly. however due to my newfound dislike of the Defiler model, and its bulky size, I've opted to drop it from the list. Instead, I've dropped the melta squads down to one meltagun each, but added a whole other plasma squad. I figure 7 more T5 bodies is better than the Defiler. I've also added Reaper Autocannons to the Chosen to give them some firepower when they arrive from DSing.

The edited list is as follows:

Daemon Prince Bacillus – 143 pts.
    MoN/CCW/CCW/Essence/Speed/Stature/Strength/Spiky Bits/Nurgle’s Rot/Frags

    3 w/ MoN/Terminator Armour/Combi-Bolters/Power Weapons
Fearless, True Grit, Deep Strike, Favoured Unit

    Aha...! You have a list!

Okey dokey.. It's always interesting to have the daemon weapon on the lieutenant. Monsterous Lords seem powerfull enough without them.. but you are missing on a potential dread weapon and monstrous creature combo.. which is pure pain in a glass for the enemy.
Then again if you're using the Typhus model then i guess it's ok.. the Typhus model is damn tasty.

    Squads:-
All infiltrating Plague marines?!?.. ouch. As an Alpha legion player, I respect your style.
However.. i would strongly consider doubling up on Meltas instead of plasmas. The reason for this is simple. With normal CSMs, melt down is a risk i like to take, however, plasma meltdown goes straight through your toughness to your armour save, and they're expensive marines you're losing there.
Meltas are just as effective in an advancing game, don't melt down and give you added punch to any assaults that might take place.

Hmm. have you considered rejigging things a bit and taking one squad as havocs with the choice of up to 4x melta/plasma?

I like masses of troops. I think it's really fluffy. The appearance of terminators @ 1500point level is questionable, but if you do include them, then you've done well with them.

    Good luck!
