Honestly, I've toyed with the idea of having a statured prince with my alpha legion army, but it seems utterly and completely against the army theme and concept of what an alpha legion IS(a bunch of sneaky ambush tacticians) that giving up the ability to infiltrate is just not worth it in my opinion. its neither fluffy, nor does it make use of the advantages that an alpha legion army is granted.Originally Posted by ChimChimMonkeySoldierAgain, another HQ that cannot infiltrate, I think this flies completely in the face of an alpha legion army, though deep striking him might be closer. It just looks like you're structuring this off of a BLACK legion design rather than alpha.Originally Posted by ChimChimMonkeySoldierYou just can't go wrong here.Originally Posted by ChimChimMonkeySoldierI personally think the assasins skill is the only one worth taking, but to each his own.Originally Posted by ChimChimMonkeySoldier
They NEED some Cultist champion support. Make them 15-man squads and give them each a champion with either:
power weapon, and daemonic strength
better against MEQs and "regular" troops
daemonic talons, mutation spikey bits (boom, you have a genestealer.)
good against high toughness targets like TMCs and Wraith lords.Well, the chances that you will be able to infiltrate them anywhere useful is very slim.Originally Posted by ChimChimMonkeySoldier
They should really be broken down to 8 man squads. Put a champion with powerfist in each squad. You must be kidding. Get more cultists if you want more meat shields awful, I'm sorry but simply awful. Why would Alpha legion ever make use of turkeys? A meat shield for what? what are you screening or protecting?Originally Posted by ChimChimMonkeySoldierI would split them into two squads.Originally Posted by ChimChimMonkeySoldierAlpha legion cannot make use of furies. or any of the "fast attack" daemons.Originally Posted by ChimChimMonkeySoldierFirst, please attempt to make use of reasonable english grammar, grammatical shortcuts such as plz, and ur are very poorly looked upon in this community and will not be tolerated.Originally Posted by ChimChimMonkeySoldier
Well, I have to say, I was rather suprised by the kroot element. I don't think its useful, fluffy or effective. I would drop them completely.
While I do like the use of maxed out squads, I just don't think it fits with an alpha legion theme.
What I would do to keep the "theme" you are going with, which is a very aggressive alpha legion "classic alpha legion assault army"
is the following:
Make your HQs infiltrate, give them both daemonic speed or flight.
your infiltrating CSM squads, make them no bigger than 15man squads and have 2 squads of them. MAKE SURE you have an aspiring champion with a powerfist.
Fill the rest of your troop slots with cultists, the way I suggested and give them all meltabombs. This way they can swarm just about any tank, skimmer or oponent.
Fill in more numbers by taking havocs at high numbers and with the same loadout.
(think, swarms of raving cultists supported by CSMs)
Squads of daemonettes to fill the points to support your assault with some punch.
This is how I think a "classic" alpha assaulter army should look. they all pop up and charge in like a bunch of madmen.
Hope this helped, I'm not trying to get down on you, but I really honestly don't think your design as it stands fits an alpha legion feel.
W/D/L Eleventy trillion billion/NONE/ NONE - I am STILL rulezor!
WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
I think that you should probably try Black Legion, considering the units that you like to use. At that points level, I would almost definitely consider a greater daemon, which would suit your list better although it not acceptable for Alpha legion, fluff wise or otherwise.
Also, just check your codex with regards to certain gifts which can't be coupled with others and the like.. - terminator armour and mounts etc etc.
Another thing is, don't expect to get too many more opinions on your list because The Yak is the definitive Alpha legion player - so you've got help from the best
The Obliterators, daemonettes and predators are great. But.. there's a lot to work on to make it a bonafida Alpha legion list.
But Alpha legion is incredibly rewarding, so good luck!
