So this is an extention of my 1500 list. I am not familiar with what is usually played at 2000 points, so please correct me if I am utterly nieve. i know that the retinue is expensive, but i think it has merit. Whenever possible i will use the terminators as an anti terminator/big stuff squad. the land raider should get them there and the sorceror rolls with them. when they hop out, on average, they put 6.75 wounds on termies (all at I4 or greater), and 10.25 wounds on marines. so they have devastating power there, and I think they are fairly flexible. They give me the initiative that I lack with the rubrics as well as mobility. 4 melta guns + land raider weapons should help with my anti armour. Is this too big a point sink? Do you think that I would encounter more than I am expecting with this list in 2000 points?
Daemon Prince; gift of chaos, bolt pistol, Dark Blade, D. Aura, disc 161

Also i am thinking about getting the forgeworld mk2b preheresy land raider, that would be sweet i think.

Well, I'm no expert. It seems we have a serious lack of TS veterans. But I'll give it a light whirl.
First off, your sorcerer won't be able to ride shotgun in the raider with the termies unless he drops a thrall. Three is a crowd after all.
Also, Rubric marines have I4 (See Chaos FAQ Update 4.2 I believe)
Perhaps drop the mutation on the champ and give it to the sorcerer. Doesn't giving the champ a bolt pistol achieve the same effect anyway?
Just for funsies, I'd say drop the combi-meltas on the Chosen and give them some powers. Nothing like a termie squad that can bulk up it's numbers with mewling spawn.
Careful with the daemonic possession, I've found that dreadnoughts get popped wide open more than they get stunned or shaken. But again, it's up to you. You could always switch it out for some Coruscating Flame Dedication and 5 extra points for funsies. (Nothing like the look on an opponent's face when his attackers die before they can even assault)
You may want to switch the gift on the "Daemon Prince" to wind. If he has spawn, he won't be able to zip around the field at more than walking speed.
Good luck! Let me know how it fares in playtesting!
"If you can wait til I get home, then I swear we can make this last."
You ought to drop the Dreadnought and replace it with a predator. They are just more points efficient. They have better armor and have more firepower for pretty much the same price.
Open up in the name of the Lawl!
a couple of typos(i have a lot of list variations written, must have snatched the wrong one)
see original post as it has been edited.
We do have low sons vets, and although i do not consider myself an authority, i have been with the sons for quite a while.
Again, the thrall was a typo, but good catch for rep.
Slow and purposeful making rubrics I1 in combat is what i meant. If this rule has changed then wow, the whole feel of the army would be different.
I dont have the points to give mutation to the sorceror(costs more for ICs than for ACs) and the sorceror will be with the termies so he doesnt need the extra help that the other dude will need(fighting alongside a bunch of mindless idiots and all).
I thought a lot about powers, and i know that the mark of tzeentch is kindof a waste if the powers are skipped, but they are just too expensive to rely on them. if I got one or even two, the results would be tempermental. I dont want to make them all have gift for 80 points so i can spawn a 1 marine(1.3 chance of doing so). I am really about the fluff, but I need to think economically here. The meltas allow me to toast many enemies and they are relatively cheap. As for the terminator champ with the melta, it is an attack that he will hit more of the time and wound more of the time with, so i chose that over the pistol that would give an extra, but essentially weaker attack in close combat.
with the dread and daemonic possesion, yeah, i dont know how to make him live longer.
good call with the wind on the prince, i will do that
I take the dread out of fluff reasons. I see the tsons as a force of infantry. I like the idea of a walking vehicle better than a predator, I feel that predators are lethal yet somewhat of a powergaming choice. They just seem a little too good. Same goes for defilers.
thanks for the comments
