    [500] Death Guard

    Well, here's a list I used over thw week end to help train my friend, I came out with a win, but I'll admit it was close at the end.

    HQ

    -Chaos Lieutenant
    ---Mark of Nurlge
    ---Power Weapon
    ---Bolt Pistol
    ---Daemonic Speed

    Troops

    -Death Guard
    ---5 Marines
    ---Mark of Murgle
    ---2 Meltaguns

    -Death Guard
    ---5 Marines
    ---Mark of Murgle
    ---2 Meltaguns

    Heavy Support

    -Havocs
    ---5 Marines
    ---Aspiring Champion
    ---Tank Hunters
    ---Mark of Nurgle
    ---4 Plasma guns

    Total: 499

    What do you think in general? Theres always 'room for improvement', but I really like how this list worked, it gave me a good number of tough models in seperate squads for tactical flexibility. I really like how the Lieutenant did, killed a Farseer , 2 Support Weapon Crews and a Couple of Rangers, all thanks to that magical 12" charge...

    My friend really didn't like how he could barely kill my guys with thier T5.

    Honestly, mike there is only one thing that I would really urge you to change, and that's your havocs using plasmas at this level. Yes, they can dish out a LOT of punishment, but in the end, you're throwing away a lot of points per nergle marine that doesn't even use its awesome toughness.
    I just feel, that at 500pts, there just isn't really much wiggle room for acceptable losses, and when each basic marine is 45+ pts in the havoc, that's almost 200 points that you're rapid firing into oblivion, and it just takes one bad roun of shooting for the squad to start to really feel the burn(haha)

    I just feel that meltas would have been a wiser (albeit conservative) approach to the army.
    Otherwise, I think its a really solid and tough list at 500pts.

    Its funny, because in the Game, the Plasmas never got a shot off. U.U;;;; They ende up being targeted by pretty much everythin possible, and then I assaulted forgoing shooting to protect them from anougher round of shooting, I must admit they do make a nice target, and then turn out to be tougher than expected, but I will work the list around a bit, I should be able to get 2 squads of 7 plus AC and stuffs...but we'll see.

    You're in luck, mike, I'm having a bout of insomnia, and I'm up and campin the forums for now.

    I see what you mean, which is why I always advocate strong redundancy in my lists.
    I build my CSM/ MeQ armies around a general philosophy of presenting so many juicy targets that all of them are equally effective, threatening and can fulfill any number of roles.
    This is why I like meltaguns so much, they are assault weapons, they have EXCELLENT stats, you are only losing out on one shot per guy AND you get to assault if you need to.

    I'd post a list now, but I got school in the morning and I still got to set up my bed (washed the sheets) but if I'm not feeling tired, I'll work in it right away!

    the biggest peice of advic i can give you dude is that as sweet as marked armies are they are total crap at less than 750 i would change it to undivided and use the points saved (which is quite considerable) to get a squad of havocks with autocannons (gotta love them things)

    Then... it wouldn't be a deathguard army would it. Yes, an undivided force may have an advantage *may*. not everyone wants to play for optimal effect. This list is DG.

    Can't use them.

    I'm doing Pre-Heresy with the CSM codex for it's flexibility, so no over the top HQs (unless HQ =Primarch) and no deamonic things, like Nuglings or Nugles Rot I'm afraid.

    Otherwise I would.
