    [1000] Red Corsairs (AL Rules)

    Well, here's my preliminary idea for the Red Corsairs... rolling with Alpha Legion rules first, to keep infiltrate cheap at this points level:

    HQ

    Aeronis, Fallen Codicier
    1 Chaos Lt. with MoCU; Sorceror; Power Weapon; Bolt Pistol; D. Strength; D. Flight; Doombolt
    @121 points

    Troops

    7 CSM with MoCU; 5 Bolters; 1 Heavy Bolter; 1 Plasma Gun; Infiltrate
    1 Aspiring Champion with MoCU; Bolt Pistol; Power Fist; Infiltrate
    @171 points

    7 CSM with MoCU; 5 Bolters; 1 Heavy Bolter; 1 Plasma Gun; Infiltrate
    1 Aspiring Champion with MoCU; Bolt Pistol; Power Fist; Infiltrate
    @171 points

    7 CSM with MoCU; 5 BP/CCWs; 2 Melta Guns; Infiltrate
    1 Aspiring Champion with MoCU; Bolt Pistol; Power Fist; Infiltrate
    @176 points

    8 Daemonettes
    @120 points

    Heavy Support

    8 Havocs with MoCU; 3 Bolters; 4 Autocannons; Infiltrate; Tank Hunters
    @232 points

    Total Points: 991
    Total Models: 41

    LN, I am sorry if my input here sounds completely stupid but I am a fluffy player over a power player. I was just thinking that the power fists would be harder to come by than power weapons in the red corsairs. or even taking daemonic gifts over a power weapon and just go with a CCW and the added S or even grabbing my favorite combination of daemonic fire and talons :)

    Not really, if you think about it. These guys came from other Chapters, and simply took the Power Fists with them. Shouldn't be too hard to jump a Sergeant, kill him, cut his arm off and bring it back with you... =D

    edit: And crap. I just realised I can't use those Daemonettes without Cultists... so need a new plan. Hmm.

    As Red Corsairs, this list looks exceptionally fluffy, in particular, your troop choices that have multiple functions (i.e., heavy bolters, plasma guns, power fists). This reminds me very much of a space marines configuration, which works for Red Corsairs. Overall, I've found that chaos armies do better without mixing heavy and special weapons, but this is a tactical descision, not a fluff one. On to the army:

    You've done a pretty good job at balancing your build.

    H.Q.: Your entire army infiltrates with the exception of this pup. That's bold, probably a little too bold. Unless you infiltrate back towards your side of the table, your h.q. will likely be taken down the first down by incoming ranged fire.

    Second, it looks like you're trying to give your h.q. too many roles to fill. Chaos lords/lieuts do best when assigned one task- either c.c. or ranged. At the 1000 point marker, a chaos lieut w/ daemonic flight and a kai gun would suit your build very well. If you're looking for c.c. support, then a lieut w/ infiltrate, daemonic speed & a dark blade is comparable in price to your current lieut.

    Troops: Your points are a little off. Your c.c. troop squad should be at 160 points (not 176). Your ranged squads should be at 155.

    The big advantage to using special weapons is their mobility, namely, they can move and shoot. The heavy bolter prevents your troops from doing this (though, this may not be an issue for you). In city fights especially, being able to move around corners and then rapid firing greatly improves your chances of success. Consider dropping the heavy bolter for an additional plasma gun.

    Your c.c. unit and daemonettes look good.

    Heavy: Looks good. Your points should total 186 (not 232).

    It looks like you've got a whole bunch of points to spend.

    Are you sure about those costs, Rabbit?

    I re-add them, and still get the same things...

    More in-depth reply later.

    I may be wrong here, but if you're using AL rules don't you need cultists to summon demons?

    Gah.. How did I miss half the post.

    I really think you would do well to get some cultists. I know you're not sure what legion you're doing yet, but from a looks and fluff point of view they could be really nice. Think of the reavers from 'serenity'.. It's not hard to imagine insane, chaos warped space pirates.

    Plus you could then get daemons.

    Other than that, I like it, it looks strong..
