Forgeworld have made new Chaos Dwarf models.
In my own little twisted mind it means that Chaos Dwarfs will not be cancelled.
They have far too many mentions in current printings to be avoided. If GW meant to cancel them they just wouldnt mention them anymore...

"The more choices you force the opponent to make, the better the chance for you to capitalize on his mistakes"
@Mr Wayne: I like the new models and their big hat's :-) The steam tank's also looks nice. But are these models from forgeworld or from warhammer forge? I heard some rumors that both would work on the CDs
@ coldblooded: I think it would also be possible to take the dwarven plastic models and paint them in darker colours, eventually use some GS to make CD's of them. In therms of playing you could use the actual rules of the dwarfs. I think I will start in that way and when one day in the far far far future the new armybook will appear I still would have a solid core.

Fourth picture down, there is a placard on the right side stating that these are for Warhammer Forge. However, they are Forgeworld. Warhammer 'Forge' is going to be the equivalent to the WH40k 'Imperial Armor' books.
It will include the Chaos Dwarves, but there is no intent to create a playable army from them. They will not be released as a unified army, there will not be an armybook for them, they will not be available through the GW online store- they are for Forge. They are intended to be used as allies for the WoC forces, just as they are currently with their Hellcannon.
Like 'Imperial Armor', 'Forge' will cover a number of conflicts, albeit on a smaller scale. The idea is that it will move the established timeline forward, covering the next great Chaos Incursion. The CD and WoC will be moving southwards into the Empire, while the forces of Slaanesh move towards Nagarythe and the New World, and Tzeentch moves towards Cathay.
These Chaos Dwarves are being included alongside new options for other armies as well- namely, the Empire are getting the massive "airships" that we see in the core Rulebook.
I think that by doing this, GW is actually working against it's own ability to reinstate the Chaos Dwarves. They won't be cancelled, but they are no longer major players in the game. With Forgeworld handling this model line, it may take a while for GW to bring the CD back into the fold, and write a book for them. Much of whate FW will have produced will likely be lost (who the hell is going to make use of that rail-mounted Siege Bombard in a standard game).
If you want to play Chaos Dwarves, I suggest using these models, along with some of the other classics or great conversion ideas, and working with the current Dwarf armybook, as Slakhaar has suggested.
Beautiful models all the same, although the hats look a little too much like Goblin Shamans for me...
Mantic is getting ready to release their Khaos Dwarf line. Here is the link to the page:
Khaos Dwarfs Mantic Games
You can go to the blog page and see some sample sculpts. I have three sets of the Mantic figures and they are half the price of GW...
Aye I'm liking the new Forge stuff myself but unless they start churning out whole units I dont think I can see myself starting these boys up. Not for a while anyway.
The Mantic stuff is ok. I preffer some of the Hasslefree sculpts.
I'm not sure either. I mean, sure loads of people would collect them (I'd do a small army of them) but, are they going to be an army that is all that different from normal Dwarves?
I don’t play too much Warhammer these days (as I working Three Plains at the mo), but I know Fantasy has all sorts of armies with different strengths and weaknesses, so is there really another gap to fill in Fantasy??? I feel with the Ogres they found another gap and that maybe is why they tuck hold, with them being so different from all the rest.
Basically, Chaos Dwarves sounds like bad Dwarves who have turned to chaos, but they are till Dwarves (nothing new there) with war machines (nothing new there), other than this GW will have to bring something different to the table for gamers... But people will buy them anyway with them being new at first, if they take hold or not, that’s another matter all together.
But good luck to them anyway =O)
P.S. cool looking models by the way Lord Borak.
