Just wondering about getting some chaos dwarfs... Wondering what most people do for an army list? I've got ravening hordes and there's a new 8th errata available from CDO but they also have lots of other army lists on there too. Eg thommys list and the Indy gt list. Does anyone use them or just the rh?
Be good to know!
There are 2 regular chaos dwarf players at my local tournament scene. in general the Indy book is used, but i think the ravening hordes list would be allowed. im not really sure. i dont like playing against a ravening hordes list myself, because i think the blunderbuss rules in that list are plain idiotic.
One of them guys won the best painted award and rightly so not sure if i can post pics of his centaur conversions without his permission x_x
Warchief Diggah o da Bloodmoon Squiggahs
Right now most people use indy gt, like Digger said. But with the forgeworld list around the corner, I should wait till that one comes. The list will be in their first warhammerforge book.
Cool cool. Just that the rh list and the Indy list are very different!!
I used the RH list, then the Indy GT when it was still 7th edition, then back to RH until this year's month of May, where I now switched to Thommy H's 8th edition fan-made codex (which has quite a lot of fluff and does not suffer from balance issues because it has been tested.)
People that I've seen have always stuck to the Indy list. Having read through both of them, the Thommy version is different, but not necessarily better for 8th. The Indy list is valid, it was written for 7th ed just like a lot of the current armybooks, so nobody cares if your rules aren't spot-on. He also FAQ'd the book for 8th, if I recall. The Indy list also has "accreditation" by the Indy GT circuit- they wouldn't do that if it wasn't an incredibly well trusted book. The only reason that GW hasn't published it is because he won't agree to sell them 100% of the rights to his work.
I'm actually going to play against the CD in a tournament tonight, and he'll be using the Indy book. It's a good, and quite fierce army if you know what you're doing. I can't wait to see what the army gets in the Forge book- I've heard rumors that they're giving Obsidian Guard something of a shooting attack, and that the rules for Blunderbusses are quite different from the GT version of the list. We shall see...
I use the Indy GT list, however Thommy's list is quite nice. Kevin was supposed to release a new edition of the GT army book, but no word on when. I have the original RH, but I find it to be very outdated. We can only hope GW does a half decent job on the new list, heaven knows it will cost enough.
