Do these things actually have a weakness? They just seem ridiculously OP to me. They have a 4+ ward against most things, great cc ability and can't be wounded by anything s4 or lower. So how can they possibly be balanced? I guess my point is, how do you kill one (without cannons preferably)

on its own it isnt balanced, but looking at the entire list makes it more balanced. Having magic attacks helps against a k'dai destroyer.
Hand a character the stubborn helm, a neat magical weapon, The other tricksters shard if you got the points, stick him in a nice GW armed unit of choice and let lose. Or... You know... Magic. Shadow can bring its toughness down to a level were he burns til death or taking away iniviativ and then a Int test or DIE spell.
But as said above they are unbalanced in a bubble but almost the whole book is unbalanced. Some Units that you most take are overcosted (Infernal guard and Hobgoblins) and some are overpowered (K'Daai and Magma Cannon) so it ends up being fairly balanced after all.

Is your K'dai Destroyer not fast enough? Then why not get youself the Forge World Monsterous Arcanum, and for less points than 10 Skeletons you can buy it wings.
Alternative is to tie it up in combat and hope it burns itself up. It is a very nasty creature. My advice would be to throw war machiens and magic at it. Worth bearing in mind that the CD player will be using it as a major line breaker, so its not like the Doom Wheel or something which can wreak havoc for not many points. The Destroyer at least wields some major reward when it goes down,
