Call me retarded (considering I don't have the new codex yet; just the "ahem" version digitally) but I thought only four special weapons total were allowed in a Chosen squad. This could be any combination of ranged/melee weapons.8x chosen, 1x melta gun, 4x pairs of lightning claws, IoS + Rhino w/ combi melta
309 pts
The copy I have says:
Unless I'm being retarded, I read that as a max of four models can modify their *stock* wargear.Up to four models may choose one of the following four options:
Either replace bolt pistol pistol with a plasma pistol XX points
Or replace close combat weapons with one of the following:
*stuff*
Or replace bolt pistol, close combat weapons and bolter with a pair of lightning claws for XX pts
Or replace bolter with one of the following:
*stuff - including Meltagun*
I would love to have a Chosen squad with four dual claws and four Meltaguns. Talk about pewpew/smash pwnage.
Chaos - 55,000+ points (50k painted)
Tyranids - 10,000+ points
Necrons - 6000 points
yeah, i read it as four total as well....

There are 4 columns of text in the chosen entry. The second column over allows for one model to change their weapon to a special or heavy weapon. The next column over then says that up to four models may exchange their weapons for a special / CC weapon.
The one special / heavy weapon + four special / CC weapons makes for five total models in the chosen squad able to change their weapons.

IronAngel is right; you can get a total of 5 special weapons.
It's not a choice, it's a Nurgling.
Spambot kill tally. . .232
You're absolutely right! I didn't look as far left as Column two where it allows a single heavy/special ranged weapon.
Goes to prove, I AM retarded!
Ok, another question with the same entry. You say it costs 309 where what you have listed only costs 299. I'm assuming you upgraded one to an Aspiring Champion? If so, why?
I don't see much use in ACs in Chosen/Terminator squads unless you're fielding a Greater Daemon. Otherwise it's one extra attack for a very valuable 10 points.
I'm a bit of a min-maxer so every point allocation is strictly scrutinized. Ten extra points is another Melta on a Plague Marine, or another Combi Weapon on a Rhino. All very valuable options, imo.

Brilliant Tactica, looking back on the Spawn, They are nowhere near as good as they should be.
I Bring You Grains Of Truth!
agreed, I know that they could not make it too powerful due to the fact that they are produced by GoC but they could have at least lowered the cost. I "might" have taken them at 20-25 points a piece.

Great guide Ironangel, thx for putting in the hard work so i have a better point of veiw on the new 'Dex
Spot on. In the last few months I have been experimenting with spawn in my LATD army instead of taking tanks, I was really impressed and after I saw the new spawn models I was very interested in the new dex.Chaos Spawn: In my opinion this is probably the single worst entry in the codex. It has no save, has very unpredictable movement speed and number of attacks, and you have absolutely no control over where it goes. I might have taken them at half the points cost as filler… It is such a shame because the models are quite nice.
BUT....The lack of armor saves is a death sentance fore these guys and there high points cost will only ensure that this "CHeaP" distraction rarely gets used. In the Rouge trader days spawn squads were often lead by Handlers with spawn goads and whips to keep the spawn on track towards there inteneded target.
Thought for the day: A Burning Heretic , Will brighten the Decor of any room.
