I personally take tl las and las sponsons, and never looked back. For taking out infantry [with veichles] I use my defilers pie plates and my noughts pie plates, therefore my army needs some rawr str 9 hits =]. It's totally up to you on what your army needs, do you have enough firepower to take out tanks?

And some perfectionists would then have to magnetise the rear of the turret for the ammo box / lascannon power packs.
Rough scetch of how I did it, but it would probably just be easier to replace either the top magnet with a piece of thin metal(such as the broken blade from a hobby knife). I glued the little camera onto the side of the sponsoon instead of leaving it at the top of the sponsoon platform.

EDIT: Obviously, the blue marks are the magnets. Magnets also have the advantage of letting your sponsoons be twist and turnable without breaking - something that can't be said for the default plastic contruction.

Sorry for the late replies, but i was thinking is the tri las cannon pred any good?, i was planning to probarly use it as my Anti tank, MC hunter, and Heavy armour eater.

Im not to sure or else is it better for a autocannon and lascannon sponsons?

The reason that most people use the autocannon/lascannon predator over the tri las is the cost. The autocannon comes free on the predator, and is a fairly good weapon in itself, and thus most of us don't see the point in spending those xx points to upgrade it to a lascannon (I personally would rather put those points into other upgrades in my army).

The ac/las sponson loadout is cheaper than all-las, though an all-las Predator will be a better dedicated tank-hunter. But, DON'T TAKE JUST ONE! One all-las Predator has TARGET written all over it in large capital letters and once its been blown up, its gone, you're in the same position as before you took the tank and your opponent has one kill point/165vps.

If you can afford it (points-wise) and you're dead-set on Predators, take two all-las types. If you can't, take two ac/las sponson types.
If green power armour is good enough for the Fallen One, then its good enough for the rest of us...

I got a question. Depending on the army wouldnt it be better to just make your heavy weapon a anti tank weapon. My cousin plays a rocket launcher heavy infantry guard army. I played with 2 anti infantry preds and all i got was a butt load of rockets that eventually one got lucky and destroyed me.

Also really like the magnet idea i think ill go do that.

A predator is ok if you have a leftover Heavy Support slot. Myself I take a defiler (use to anyways) and some havocs.
If a Million Guardsmen die, that's a statistic. If one marine dies, that's a tragedy.

I'd say a defiler well over a predator anyday, in a single game a defiler can take out whole squads of marines where a predator would be lucky to inflict a few failed saves on any marines at all. Plus the defiler can defend itself against assaults, so you cant just hit it for 10 armour in the back, it crushes things instantly, only issue is that it doesn't have ws4 but it's the price to pay for free posession I guess.

I've been experimenting with both a dakka pred (AC/Hvy bolter/Havoc launcher) and the Ac/Las pred.

Against marines, the dakka pred is kinda "meh". Kills a few here and there and can pop rhinos. But for only 115 points it's not shabby and usually kills it's points or close to it, especially if it bags a killpoint from a rhino The AC/Las pred was nice, but I haven't gotten to use it as much. In either case they seem to work best as a sort of pillbox that can relocate if the need arises.

Against hordes, dakka pred has really shone, laying waste to nids and orks alike. But even then, the AC/Las pred would have been handy to pop trukks / MCs.

So I think you can get solid use from either favorite pred version against the vast majority of armies. Just take which every one fills a hole in your army the best. Oh, but skip on the Possession. You can't twin-link the spons and they're the bulk of your fire. I tried it, and it just doesn't work. My pred has been shaken or stunned exactly 1 time in 8 games, and destroyed in 5 of them (usually turn 3+, and if it dies the defiler usually lives instead)

In any event, multiple tanks is a must (I run 2 rhinos, pred, defiler, sometimes a prince as well). And Magnets are your greatest friends. I kinda went nuts with mine: Check it out
