Chaos Space Marines Faction

The Battle for Aurora Prime is under way! Chaos players, check out the information thread here and get ready to participate in LO's first large scale Warhammer 40k campaign!

Faction Commanders

Each faction may nominate a forum member of that faction to be the faction commander during the Battle for Aurora Prime campaign. The faction commander will have access to special orders and privy to certain information that could grant additional bonuses to their faction for the campaign.

If you are interested in becoming the faction commander for this faction, please PM Lost Nemesis. Be sure to discuss it with your fellow faction players, try to come to a consensus on who you want to lead you!

Faction Fluff

The Eldar force was arrayed all along the ridge. Dozens of guardian squads had taken up position amongst small cairns and piece sof the dark granite that littered the Northern frontier. They poured a hail of shurikens into the advancing line of Thousand Sons but to little effect. Occasionally the thick, ornate armour of the Chaos Marines was penetrated but rarely did a warrior of Tzeentch go down. The Eldar support platforms had more success, a volley of scatter laser fire blew apart the helmet of one Thousand Son and the armour fell to one side the moan of the occupants long dead spirit echoing over the noise of battle.

The chaos Marines returned fire. Their bolters spat fire and death into the ranks of the Eldar and a score of them went down clutching wounds that burnt through armour, skin and bone.

In the centre of the eldar lines a group of Dire Avengers and an Exarch held the line. The Exarch directed the movements of his fellows, ordering more guardians into the centre of the line where the Thousand Son advance was strongest.

The Eldar warrior had fought the sons of Magnus many decades before. He knew them to be implacable foes even for space marines. He also knew that without their leaders they were a mindless force. Seeking out the sorcerer who led them he directed his aspect warriors to concentrate their fire on him. Hundreds of shurikens filled the air around the sorcerer of Tzeentch. Armour shredded like paper and the air it self seemed to split as the molecular thick blades spun and flew around the Marine. Suddenly the air ignited around the sorcerer and blazed with a pink hue. When it died down again just as suddenly the Thousand Sons leader was unharmed.

The Dire Avenger shouted encouragement to the eldar around him and readied them for another volley. Without warning a series of laser blasts struck him and the dire avengers standing nearby. The Havocs had appeared without warning, positioned on a ridge far out of range of any eldar counter attack.

Discipline turned to despair as the eldar found themselves without a leader and the guardians fell back from the Thousand Sons advance. As they retreated armoured figures in purple rose up from hidden positions bolters in hand. The Alpha Marines strode amongst the fleeing eldar gunning them down mercilessly.

The area was secure. The forces of Chaos were triumphant once more.


Aurora Prime has been a target for the Thousand Sons for many hundreds of years. Khalimani of the thousand sons has been sowing the seeds of dissent on the planet, waiting the time when his machinations will bare fruit. His own motives for being on the planet are complex. He seeks favour with Abbaddon in sowing strifwe amongst the Imperium. If all goes well and the war on Aurora spreads perhaps worlds all across the Gannos sub sector will be thrown into anarchy and the Imperiums grip on the Galaxy will be further loosened. But then Khalimani also has his own reasons. He knows that there have been many thousands of Xenos races that have ruled the Galaxy long before our most distant ancestors crawled on their bellies onto the beaches of ancient Terra. The eldar, the Necrons even the mighty Old Ones. Khalimani covets the power of dead and dying races. He has jealously amassed a knowledge of alien species that many in the Ordo Xenos would sell their immortal souls for. It is no coincidence that Aurora Prime is a Necron tomb world.

As for the other Chaos Marine Legions, the Alpha Marines are willing allies of the Thousand Sons. The Alpha Marines have trainign and supplying dozens of secret paramilitary groups and heretical cults all across the Zeist Sector. Their original aim was to covertly aid the Tau expansion. However the Imperial response was unusually swift and now the traitor marines are focused on a more specific target. If Aurora Prime can fall then the disruption to shipping lanes across the sub sector will be monumental.

The World Eaters love of slaughter has meant more than one warband has made planet fal land have rampaged across Northern Akos, gleefully slaughtering Imperial outposts and even towns loyal to the cause of Chaos.

Finally the Iron Warriors have landed down led by Lord Hanzio. He is here at the personal behest of Abbaddon and is to ensure that the world burns……..

So far the Chaos Marines have had considerable success I driving back the small edlar raiding parties that have been assailing them for nearly a year. When the Imperial forces swept North from the Golvidis heights Alpha Marine intelligence was able to predict the exact time and place where the Imperial hammer blow would fall. As a result the Chaos Marines won a significant victory. However despite this they have been able to advance further south. Indeed the first six hours of the Adeptus Astartes counter attack has seen every Iron warrior position on the Northern foothills of the Golvidis Heights taken.

A further threat has emerged. A mighty Eldar warhost is moving across the frontier sweeping away all resistance. Present Chaos Marine numbers are few and there may not be enough to halt the vengeful warriors of the Craftworlds.

Finally the Necrons have begun to arise. Whether this is part of Khalimani‘s plan remains to be seen……..

whoever wins the faction commander civil war should PM me to get commander goodies. Being a commander requires a bit more attention than other participants but not painfully so.

So, Chaos players, I'm thinking we should decide as a group what territories or enemies to attack so we can make sure that our efforts are effective. Suggestions?

(For me personally, my regular opponent falls under Imperial, so I guess that's my vote)

This would be a much easier process if you got together and decided upon a faction commander. You'd also then have several special orders you can receive and things like that, all of which could be advantages to the CSM!

As far as I know no one has put themselves forward as Warmaster of our Black Crusade. Until then I nominate myself for that role. Normally I wouldn't as I am not certain on how many games I will be able to get in; however no one else seems to want the responsibility. I can organize us in the least, (and manage the numbers) until we get another fervent Champion to take up the mantle.

I'll go ahead and throw him under the bus, I think Rabbit would be a fine Commander for us. He's active on the forums, gives good advice, and has a firm understanding of the game.

Anyone second?

I second that Tribesman, as well as throw in the services of my World Eaters warband! We shall collect many skulls for the skull throne. All shall perish at the awesome might of Khorne!

You do not know the colors we wear upon our armor? We are the Black Legion! For millenia we have made battle upon all those who number themselves amongst the Corpse God's lackeys, for an eternity we have worked to avenge His betrayal and ravage the weakling Imperium of Man. And now the Warp calls us to this unknown planet, like a clarion for all those who heed the Eightfold Path. I pledge my Black Legion warriors to this campaign. And while I am shamed to not be offering myself as Warmaster, I believe Rabbit deserves the honor most. I also would like to nominate Rabbit.

I also nominate Rabbit for the job as Warmaster. (aka. Faction Commander) I'm thoroughly enjoying myself organizing everyone, but I think it's important we get a Veteran LO member to take up the mantle.
