Iron Warrior daemon Prince, er hows that?

The title says it all really. I've become quite a fan of the Iron Warriors over the last year or so and and read everything there is regarding the Iron Warriors and I have alot of knowledge about 40k. In the fluff I.W's are noted for not really worshipping the gods. They do seem to lean towards Khorne sometimes and I have read they use magic and daemons some times. But one thing that i cant work out is how would a Iron Warrior champion become a D.P?

I haven't read all the novels and whatnot but I always assumed it was a form of the machine-god worship of the Mechanicus. They do a bunch of cybernetics and worship a version of the machine god which is either a minor chaos god or an avatar of the pantheon.

The thing is they could be worshiping chaos and not really know it; the champion just goes around being selfish and slaughtering people until suddenly his cybernetics start growing on their own and he becomes a small demon-engine (due to unwittingly earning the attention of the chaos gods). By the strict fluff they really wouldn't have DPs-- the IA article states they amputate mutated limbs-- to me that's an insult to the god that gifted it but what can you do.

Pretty much what I thought. But in the I.W novel storm of iron the I.W are led (by the end) by a D.P. I wont ruin the plot but yes their leader is a full blown D.P. But it is never said who grants the gift (from my understanding becoming a D.P is a reward from a god) so either they do worship one of the gods (the old fluff and even newer fluff maintains there are more than four, its just they are the most powerful, so I guess it could bbe the machine god) or they have mutants that as powerful as D.Ps but then a mutant is not a daemon.
Also i just though in the soul drinkers books their leader is a mutant or mutated.

I guess it doesn't really matter but I have built a I.W D.P and just wanted to get the fluff straight in my head. Since my Iron Warriors are renegades from the legion I guess it doesnt matter that much.

On reading my previous post I see it's not too clear-- I'm not suggesting the adeptus mechanicus worship chaos in the form of the machine god, but that the IW might.

The thing with chaos is that pretty much anything goes, so I'm sure some warbands do worship the gods while others don't etc. Obliterators are the perfect fluff basis for IW DPs-- weird unexplained flesh and metal beings. I toyed with the idea of doing an IW army at one point with steampunk zombies at summoned demons and a hulking metal DP... but like a lot of my ideas it never went anywhere, lol.

Saw a brilliant conversion of a IW DP once, it basically was a cybernetic version of the old metal DP model, and it was awesomely made! (had a jump pack as "wings" as well!)

Who gives a crap about fluff. Iron Warriors like to win, and DP's are WIN.

It's been a while since I read the souldrinker novels, but I seem to remember a part in the second novel, where the machine god reviels himself(or was it one of the horus heresy books, I can't remember). anyway, it occured to me then that the machine god has a lot of things in common with no one less...
    Tzeentch.

there's a good possibility the adeptus mechanicus is actually worshipping tzeentch, and seeing there history, it's not surpricing.

the beauty of I.W. is that they actually worship all of the Chaos gods, not one in particulair. some of them worship khorne, some tzeentch. some noise marine squads have been known to join the I.W. so slaanesh is also present, as well as nugle.
though if you had to choose, I think khorne and tzeentch are most frequently worshipped as a single god.

If any thing the closest chaos god that would have some interest in machinery would be Khorne, if you look Chaos Titans especially the Impentrator classes most of them have Khornate influences in them. I dont see Tzeentch invloved since he's too busy reading and studying the threads of fate, Slanessh is busy jerking himself off while crying tears of joy, while ripping outsome guts, to some death metal. Nurgle is busy poping his own zits while rubbing the blood off with his own puke.

I could def imagine an I.W. DP if Alpha Legion have them ( See Voldurious ) and the Night Lords have them ( See the Exhalted or read 4th Edition CSM Codex ) and both those legions dont follow any god. Why cant the I.W.'s. I see the IW DP as a much bigger Oblit with demonic features.

I would agree with you, except for the fact that in that book he actually reveils himself. I think it was an avatar of tzeentch, but defenitly not khorne. I'll look it up.

but for the I.W. they have DP's just as any chaos army. so help yourself out

Uh... In "Storm of Iron" the Warband's leader ascends to daemonhood. So yes, I believe an IW could/would become a DP.
