    Best mark for terminators

I have two terminator squads. One which is armed with mostly pairs of lightning claws and a chainfist/combi melta. The other is a more shooty squad, armed with a mixture of weapons, but all have a gun and a combat weapon.

My question is this. What marks to give the terminators? The close combat unit will have mark of slaanesh, as this makes them better against most things that can kill them, eg other terminators, mariines with power weapons etc.

The other squad I am not sure on. I am leaning towards either nurgle or tzeench, I can see benifits of both. As I can field 10 in this unit, I would consider a mark nearly essential for the small cost per model.

    Advice please?

Tzeench is the best mark imo, a 4+ inv. save is also as good as the loyalist storm shields, but with the advantage of having both hands free for killing. Nurgle does nothing to help with the big guns which is really all terminators need to fear.

I'm squarely in Realitycheque's corner on this. 99% of the time I run my Termies with the Mark of Tzeentch. 5 in 6 chance of saving small arms fire and 50-50 chance of saving anything really heavy.

For the cost, Slaanesh is probably your best buy, especially for clawed termis. This applies especially for smaller squads, when you're not getting a whole lot of return on the more expensive icons.

Note: You might try running only a single claw and a combi-plasma. It will yield better results in most skirmishes, in particular, against high init opponents like Wyches and Stealers.

    Cheers for the replies.

I was tempted to go with MON simply so in close combat I didn't suffer as many wounds before my chainfist/powerfist guys strike, although as you have pointed out the MOT is more useful against high powered guns and power weapons.

I'd take MoT, as most of what is sent at them is armed with power weapons, or is low AP firepower, MoT helps against both of these, but MoN only against power weapons.
