I just think of what you can get for 250 points in the 40k universe; a Bloodthirster, two Wraithlords, two vanilla Daemon Princes, A Monolith with 4 Warriors, Mephiston etc etc. Ahriman just seems like and over priced paper weight. I hope GW get this new codex right.

Aparently the prize goes to the tau etherial(cant remember the name).

Well, what do we honestly expect here? We're still talking about 'Codex: Gimped-&-Bland-as-all-feth-Spiky-Marines' afterall...

I don't think any codex in 40k's history has been as outright awful as this current pile of steaming fecal matter is.
Add to that the fact that the poor 1k Sons have routinely had the worst cult units/characters sine what, 2nd edition?!!

I'm honestly expecting the 1k Sons to get heavily beefed up in the new book. Even if only because their popularity has increased with the Heresy novel series.

What I've noticed is that when a special character doesn't have the Eternal Warrior rule, people tend to say the character dies too quickly, costs too much points, etc.
Ahriman, like so many other models, needs to be played in a certain way. Protect him correctly, and get him where he can do the most damage. I'm not defending the high points cost, or otherwise broken rules, its more a way of saying "we know he's not up to the task, but when you know this and still play him, don't come crying to me".

That new Chaos 'dex better be good!

Thats a harsh assessment. There are more gimped armies than chaos.Chaos under a proper list and with a good player can be a very good army.

I've been winning games with nothing but noise marines, a defiler, a 2-fist dread, a daemon prince and a sorcerer. ^_^

I don't think chaos is the worst army, just one of the most restricted in competitive environmens, especially with the nerf on warptime and lash.

Protect him correctly? How are we doing that? I had him in with 8 Thousand Sons. The Orks I played zoomed up in a Trukk got out and on the next turn assaulted him. Remember Thousand Sons are SLOW. Plus two of Ahriman's powers are used on enemies within 8". Once in combat, the Orks can target him directly since he is an Independent Character. One power claw later, he is dead. The only way you could protect him is put him in a Rhino, limit your firepower because of it and hope for the best.
