6th edition....reign of the demon princes!!

New rule leaks taken from the bell of lost souls,

Flying Monstrous creatures can swoop 24" and perform a Vector Strike which is D3+1 hits at it's strength on a unit it flies over.

Monstrous creatures get the Smash ability which allows them to halve their attacks but strike at double strength.

so we get an attack similar to what those stupid command barges of the crons? yes please! i haven't used a DP in ages, but these new rules are the hawtness.

I love the smell of promethium in the morning.

I just made a post in the Daemon's thread about this. It's more than possible to have 6 Flying Monstrous Creatures of considerable power in a Daemons army allied with CSMs.

    For example:

    Fateweaver
    Bloodthirster
    Nurgle Prince x3
    Lash Prince

Huddle around Fateweaver and fly over everything while everything needs 6s to hit you and your rerollable saves.

On top of that, you add in Plague Marines and Obliterators.

    Food for thought.

Dual DPs, and daemonic allies is looking very tempting, hard to kill, hitting hard as well (I heard rumours of a stomp type thing for added damage in cc) and now a new bunch of powers rather than our glorified shooting attacks.
The only thing better than hitting a unit extra hard, is nerfing their stats first, I can't wait to see more of those new powers, and I'm hoping there will be plenty of subtle but effective ones available to me (if I want guns I'll just take oblits).

I'm actually pretty excited about 6th and what it could bring to us and the game in general.

EDIT: And the random charge rules will on average put us better off for charge range, although they're guaranteed to let us down when we need the charge the most. The only shame is snap-shot, some IG with lascannons are going to get lucky sooner or later.

It doesn't sound overpowered to the point that I'd want to exploit it by maxing flying monstrous creatures only to lose important slots elsewhere, but a couple AP 2 hits (rumored for MC melee attacks) before melee will be quite useful. We'll see what they do to Daemon Princes in the new codex, though ... I'd fully expect them to be restricted to 0-1. Allying with Daemons for a couple more will be nice, though. And ... my nurglings! I'll be able to get my nurglings back!

What really sounds brutal, though is jump troops' impact hits. Supposedly, CSM will see more jump troop options, so this could be a nice bonus, too.

While this helps quite a few armies, I can see CSM assault armies getting more popular. Blood for the blood god.

Epidemius in Nurgle CSM lists. Kill a few models, and our Plague Marines will make Berzerkers look like wimps!

Kill 20 enemy models, and all units with the Mark of Nurgle will have a 3+ FNP, wound in close combat on a 2+ and ignore armour saves while they do. O yes, Nurgle lists will become epic.

Yes, they will. That's just a little nasty. Don't forget that Heralds take up half a slot, so you can also take another Herald of Nurgle, or the better option of a herald of Tzeentch to go with your Army =)

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Eppy's ability faq'd to stop that...
It's fine as it is right now, because allies are only a 'friendly agreement' or apoc-only thing. But you can bet that no other forces will be allowed to have 'Army X's' rules affect 'Ally Y', so I can see this little jem being rectified too! (otherwise it's just plain unfair!)

Don't be so sure. It also affects enemy models too, so any Nurgle-marked enemy units benefit as well. That's the 'balancing' part.

It's not just Daemons/CSM. There are just so many things derpy about allies.

With Allies now, you can run a GK/SoB army with two respawning scoring units. Thawn+Celestine xD

Will Grey Knight Termies in Vendettas try to make a re-appearance? Seeing this done with Paladins could be a little hard on the eyes.

Also thinking about Space Wolves and Blood Angels, they could probably pull a pretty brutal combo, nothing uber OP or anything, but fierce all the same.
