    Plague Tower

I'm building a scratch built Plague Tower of Nurgle like the one out of the Apocalypse Reload book. Does anyone know how tall this sucker is? Mine is pretty tall and I think I may have to knock it down some. I just started and it stands about 10 1/2" tall. Any cool ideas from anyone who has built one? Anyone used one in an Apocalypse game? I'm making mine out of plywood (body) and I made thick wooden wheels on wooden dowel axles.

There's a size comparison in the Apoc book between it and a regular CSM, and the tower looks to be 4 1/2 to 5 times as tall, and the tower appears to be a third as wide as it is tall.

I was thinking of making one myself one day, and it looks like popsicle sticks on a frame would be the best bet IMO, then painted all rotting, adorn it with CSM Nurgly bits (the new Nurgling models will be perfect!) and then cut up an old dowel rod I have lying around for the wheels. I was even thinking of using used shotgun cartridges for the Demolisher cannons, haha.

I see conflicting size comparisons with images I've seen and the model comparison in the book. I'll just leave it. I took a hole saw attachment for my drill and used a 1" thick pine board to make 6 - 2" wooden wheels. I then drilled out the center to match the 3/8" dowel axles. I then drilled a smaller hole in the dowel axle where it sticks out passed the wheel and put a smaller dowel peg in to hold the wheel in place; much like wheels on the old wooden carts. It's no where near done, but the picture shows how I'm doing so far. It's really not very hard to make.

This should help-the base of a Baneblade, the tower of a Chaos Bastion and a Basilisk main gun on the roof. Works for me, even if this design is unbelievably expensive.

You can occasionally find them quite reasonably made and priced on Ebay.

That is seriously wicked. Makes me want one, but I think I prefer the Tower of Skulls variant.

I liked the look of the Tower of Skulls better, but the Plague tower seemed easier to do. I can't imagine trying to come up with that many skulls from scratch!

Plague Tower seems like it would be far more effective in battle though; stuff it with 6 squads of 5 Plague Marines, each with 2 Plasma Guns, and you can fire 10 plasma shots or even 20 rapid-fire ones, all in a vehicle with 6 structure points that auto-hits melee attackers, largely ignores cover with its two main weapons and when it explodes, your Plague Marines are fine from its super detonation.

Um, I'll have what she's having, thank you very much.

    Here's how I'm doing:
I used thicker sheets of balsa and cut them about a centimeter wide for the main planks on the body, then scattered Popsicle sticks here and there. For the top, I broke the very end off some Popsicle sticks to create a jagged look to them.

I believe that you can stuff the tower with Typhus and his Plague Zombie horde-some thirty models. Watch the fun begin as it rolls into your opponent's DZ spewing templates and contagious Zombies everywhere, then promptly assaulting everyone and pinning them in combat until your well-placed Doomsday device goes off taking the entire board with it.

    Mental. I love Apocalypse CSM.

Sorry chaps, I should have pointed out that the conversion I have linked above does NOT belong to me. I wanted to use the picture as a point of reference for design, size and material requirements for anyone attempting it. Apologies to anyone who got the wrong impression-there's no way on earth I would buy that much crap from GW just to create an Apocalypse monstrosity!
