What wargear for a sorc?

Im making a sorcerer and giving him eithe gift or wind of chaos, i would like him to be able to hold his own in combat, so heres the question what wargear do i give him?

i usually paly 1000 and have,

leui with kai gun and power weapon dstrength

2 single units of oblits

8 man dual plasma team
7 man dual plasma team
5 man lascannon team
5 man lascannon team

mhull vindy
defiler

also got
termies with aspa and a reaper chainfist combo
7 man dual melta and asp fist
hellblade
pred with Mhull (chevron paint job!)
additional defiler
warsmith with bad attitude and CCWs
8 chosen/ marines to be made (thinking plasma again or autocannon)
oblit to make

BTW not having marked troops (only MOCU)
was thinking power weapon Dstrength and resilence

Is it an independent Sorcerer or a chosen Champ sorcerer?

If he is chosen just give him a powerfist, that should be enough. The Talisman that allows a rerolled Psychictest is also good in case of a "warpattack".

If he is an IC, I would like to suggest the Daemonic Aura as it comes in handy whenever an IC is in CC. Then the Powerweapon/D.strength combo is always nice.
If you are going to use Gift with him I would also like to point out the Warp-focus upgrade as this will allow him to transform Powerfist wielding opponents without getting in range of their instakilling attacks.
I will once again point out the somewhat expensive combo Wind/familiar/Gift. I have had great success with this, though in my Sons and then i conjunction with thralls.
This makes the sorcerer a truely fearsome opponent as his magic will work wether he is in CC or not.
I'm not sure if it's a great buy for non Sons but it works really well for me.


P.S. I think you can make an awsome IW sorcerer with Gift of Chaos if you make your own Spawnmodels where the "spawniness" is based on mechanics bursting through the victim. Like überevil servitors, if you get the picture.

Andusciassus your getting good at reading my ideas! ive got the chaos spaen model (in various stages of stripped metal) and im going to add wires and mechanical bits all over it, the idea is its a really fast acting form of the oblit virus. was going to have a dart gun on the model so it would not actually be a power in fluff terms, but i cant be bothered

im looking at aura strength flight perhaps resilence, power weapon ccw. Gift and sorc.

not added that up but id drop resince if need be.

If that was a lieutenant then I'd be tempted to drop one or two of those abilities. For a Lord in 1850 he may even want a little more upgrades but yeah, what you have there looks about right.

You definately want that gift/focus combo. That's saved my sqauds god knows how many times taking down the hidden powerfist. Maries especially hate it, and even if it doesn't always succeed when it does you'll be grateful.

I like your current lt. you use, I'm currently modelling one with pretty much the same gear. What weapon did you use, or is it scratch-built? Mine was the old blastmaster

Im not sure if you have seen it but here it is, i use Lt kai gun power wepaon dstrength and resileince. I used to have bionics and visage instead of resilence, but i quite frequently detach him from a squad or they die, so the relience makes up for it.

I used the auto cannon body and the classic raptor flamer barrel cut to fit, and then for the rest of the lt, every bionic part in the range nearly!

Kai leaders work very well in combination with either a plasma squad or a termie squad. Move fire then charge.

I think this is it then for the sorc
LT, Sorc, Gift o chaos, power weapon ccw, warp focus D strength Dresilence flight MOCU.
Of the top of my head i think thats 151 points.
