Yugo To The Slavia is starting to score
Default Good Armies For Cityfight

Ok, i want to start Cityfight and collect a new army for it because 1. my old armie isnt urban camoflagued and i like the old scheme 2. it looks sick 3. the rules are different. Ok, my dilemna is i dont know which army to choose specifically for Cityfight, and ive been thinking of guard, but i think everyone has it. SO, what other armies could be suitable and convertable into urban warfare?

Welcome to the forum...
Almost ANY army in my oppinon is great and a whole new experience when playing Cities of Death. Some armys fair better in the urban world then other (balance wise). with the fluff and so it is apropriate to use any army you like, as they all have a reson to be in an urban eviroment.

Just to make sure of something; when you ask about cityfight are you reffering to cityfight 1 (first edition of cityfight) or cities of death (second edition of cityfight and also known as cityfight 2 by some.)

GO Orks they da bestest da boyz are hard to shoot out with so many buildings to hind in or behind till your close enough to put a choppa in da skulls, but any army is good in the end.

Overall, The Iron Warriors Chaos Legion is probably the most suited to Cities of Death, with the special seige abilities and the like, they're probably one of the top city fighting armies out there. The Night Lords Legion would also be pretty good, with that extra cover save point, and the extra raptors, they could be on the enemy before they even got a shot off.

Every race probably has some way of making a "city fighting" force, those are just some examples from a chaos point of view.

Why would any marine army be any use in city fight were there cool power armour is just a little better then all the cover lieing around.

Armys with weak troops that are powerful in close combat are the kings of city fight so my vote gos to the nids. They love all the cover that there troops get as well as the large number of buildings that block line of sight so instead of losing half there number before they get into hand to hand now all of a sudden they all have a cover save and a good one at that.

You would think that guard would do well in cityfight but close combat armys are a better choice here as flamers and hellhounds arent much better and only ignore cover, there not going to kill any more marines then normal.

I have to say its a toss up between nids and dark eldar. Both are CC powerhouses and both lack armor, which is made up with lots of cover saves.

I haven't played against them in a CoD game yet, but it seems like Orks would probably be very dangerous in a city. More so than Guard even because Orks can CC like crazy and have decent access to multiple shot weapons and flamers.

Basically any army with cheap troops that can CC, cheap troops/ vehicles that can put lots of lead in the air, or troops that can move through cover will tend to do well in CoD.

Iron warriors are great with tons of ordanance.

Alpha legion is great cause of infiltrating and cultists who can tie you up.

Night lords are great cause 90% of the time your going to get a 3+ cover save plasma gun huh whats that do?

Tau are goo because while you might get lots of cover saves the amount of amo they can pump into you while you try to get next to them is crazy then they just relocate.

Orks are great because they have very cheap troops and have access to good Od weapons.

Imperial guard are good cause of yet again cheap troops and good ord.

Tyranids are good because they will actually be getting some sort of save and when they get in CC with you it's basically game over.

i can't think of anything else good for now but those are just some examples of what can be deadly in city fight/citys of death.

anything with fleet would be good in my opinion..
also, move through cover veteran skill is good to, anything with that.

armies with alot of infiltrating can do good to, as you can take alot of objectives and reinforce them later, as opposed to a mad rush and fighting it out in the building.
things that dont rely on conventional tanks to win are good, unless u take like 5 rhinos to block up the streets and herd your opponent into a corner. then u butcher them.
with many many axes. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

im thinking about starting a LatD army for cityfight, because of the infiltrate and frag grenades that come standard.

also, chaosgod where is that quote from? it seems familliar to me.
