Whoops. Sorry for not dropping in. Exams, you know. They suck up time.

I actually haven't read so many BL books. That's mainly because I can't find enough of them in most bookstores, and the ones I do find are mostly just hash-rehash.

I recently managed to get my hands on the Eisenhorn Omnibus, which I found immensely enjoyable up until the point where practically all the main characters died I won't say who, so as not to spoil those who haven't read it yet. I took a peek at Ravenor and it didn't quite catch me in the same way as Eisenhorn.

I've also read...hmm...Kill Team and its various sequels - the titles of which are all synonyms of the first title - Lord of the Night, which was excellent, some WHFB books - the Mark of Chaos series particularly, a few of the formulaic Gotrek novels, and anything with Mathias Thulmann in it.

Ze, for the last Eisenhorn novel the question becomes who manages to survive.

For the Ravenor novels, you actualy have to look at the books as parts tot he whole story. Each one is a story unto itself but unlike Abnetts previous works, they all lack something that the complete trilogy of books cmpletes. (Unlike Eisenhorn, Ravenors story spans the three books as a single story instead of seperate stories)

I have more black library novels than I can remember reading and am currently attempting to get my hands on gauts ghosts: the founding omnibus...

I’ve read both Eisenhorn and the first Ravenor book too, and I liked both a lot. Like you, I favour the Eisenhorn trilogy over Ravenor, but I do wonder if part of my preference is due to the fact that Eisenhorn actually lasted longer than a single afternoon (yes, not only am I a fast reader, I am also a very persistent reader when it comes to Black Library books. ) The fact that so many of the characters ended up dead in the end saddened me but didn’t surprise me; after Gaunt’s Ghosts I’ve become painfully aware of how much Dan Abnett enjoys killing off my favourite characters. In fact, I’ve become so used to it that I’m surprised when characters don’t die, and I know that over at Blacklibrary.com money has been put on when he’s going to kill off Gaunt, Emperor forbid it! The fact that the new book in the series is titled ‘His Last Command’ really upped the bets.

Oh yes, ‘Lord of the Night’ is definitely a nice book, my favourite Black Library book ever. I even wrote to Simon Spurrier to ask if he would write a sequel, and from his response I gathered that it’s not entirely unlikely that he will at some point. ^_^ Right now, though, he’s working on an awesome new fluff book akin to the Index Xenos if I’m not mistaken, which I have already begun saving up money for. It is rumoured to even include some notes on xeno physiology, which will be very interesting to see.

Right now, though, I’m attempting to get my hands on ‘Warrior Brood’ by G.S. Goto. My local bookshop has somehow misplaced (!) the latest shipment of Black Library books, so I don’t know whether I should wait for it to hopefully arrive or simply buy the book online and have it shipped to me. Perhaps I will do the latter, if I can get ‘Traitor General’, ‘Sabbat Worlds Crusade’ and the new Necromunda book at the same time. Does anyone know whether ‘His Last Command’ is a hardback or softback version?

I believe its hard back at this time. I'd ship you my copy of the book (warrior brood) Grephaun, but since I don't get paid until next week I'm a bit short on cash...

It's real cool and kinda restores my faith in the librarians in marines. Yet at they the same time, its sad since you learn more of the history of the Mantis Warriors Chapter and the regrets some marines feel when fight longside such marines who have had to suffer so much.
(four months after finsihing the book, I am on the last phase of completing my interpretation of Zso Sahaal.)

Heh, thank you very much, I very much appreciate your offer. However, I think I’ll just take a few extra night shifts at the hospital and visit Black Library’s online shop. I like to keep my Black Library books around for reference even after I’ve read them. *Coughs and points below.*

From your description I’m really looking forward to reading the book! As for interpretations of Sahaal, I am not that great at miniature conversions although I would love a raptor based on him, but I am working on a bit of 2d fan art myself. It should hopefully turn out decently when finished. ^_^

Touche on the above collection, now mine own appears small after coming up short of yours by ten books. Probably cause my bookshelf is way to big for my fifty five books.

My Sahaal model is based of an assault marine of the normal marine models but with the claw conversions and Night Lord colours...

Heh, I haven’t even counted mine. I think I have actually more Warhammer books than those on the photo, but they can’t all fit in the book shelf so instead they’re lying around my computer in case I need a reference. I do know that I supposedly have all 40k Black Library books except some of the newest and the hardbacks, so my collection is almost complete. I’m such a geek.

That sounds really neat. I’m sure we’re all expecting photos when you’re done! ^_^

Don't forget the Tenebrae. His bolter, which has that serrated bayonet on the end of the barrel - according to the book's paperback cover.

I was debating on whether or not to include the chainblade on his bolter, though in the end I chose not to. Since the front cover does not depict any scene from the book I recognise and I don't recall reading anything about there ever being a chainblade on the weapon anyway. Despite how chaosy the helmet looked I did go for that, and the lightning on Night Lord armour is so friggin hard to paint...
